Question about playing Dodonpachi (PSX version) on a PS2....

Post by Nei First »

Hey guys!

I'm close to getting Dodonpachi (PSX). For those that have played it on a PS2, are there any problems?
I hear there's problems about playing PSX games that use red book audio, on a PSX that isn't modded, is it the same with the PS2?

Also, will getting a JPN PSTwo avoid this problem :?:

I think only with the PC emulator will the audio not work.

JPS2 runs it fine, and you can shorten the load times between levels (from memory) from 5 to 2 seconds.

That's why I prefer the Saturn port of this game, runs at the correct speed, loads fast, easy to restart (abc + start)

So DDP definatly works fine on a JPN PSTwo, cool.

I think that's the only way to go then, I remember hearing somewhere that using a Swap magic disc will cause problems with the audio.

And wow, good to know that the already short loading times are reduced even more. :D

EDIT: I spoke incorrectly. My sincerest apologies. The swap discs have large enough TOCs to run the largest games but they do not provide correct settings for Redbook audio, meaning a game's Redbook music will be completely messed up, if it sounds at all. If the game waits for audio to start before continuing loading, you might not be able to play at all, Definitely go for the JP systems instead. Again, sorry for any confusion.

Keep in mind the loads are only reduced if you use the option on the PS2 bios screen (look under 'playstation driver')
