I literally just played it after getting it in the mail from Amazon.

It cured cancer that I didn't even have. That's how good it is.

It's worth every penny. It's worth all of the pennies. Get it.

Or wait. It's up to you.

It's all but guaranteed that it will get slashed to $20 or less after a few months, like every other game nowadays. But personally, I'd rather show my support for Cave and Rising Star.

Exactly.

Cart and disc releases are the only way I play video games, so I want more of that being made and licensed 8)

It's worth way more than $20 to be playing it right now than to have to wait 2 months. Short story: buy it now, no regrets!

Agreed. Also, the more people that support it right from the start, the greater likelihood it is that we might get more releases like this in the future.

I just saw this in a local store!... far from the new releases section... tucked away on the top shelf where it was hard to see. :|

Worth. Every. Penny.

I really hope we see more localization releases from them (MushiHDplz); that would be the greatest thing ever.

Basically. 5pb did the port for Ketsui (as well as DOJ BL Extra) in Japan, so unlike Akai Katana or DFK where Rising Star could just deal with Cave, things become a whole lot more complicated when it comes to those titles. That, and RSG would probably perceive less demand for a title that doesn't even have a 16:9 mode or a pseudo-HD mode. And that's still ignoring tnat Ketsui is really old. The game itself came out a decade ago, and the 360 version came out back in early 2010... if they were going to bring it out, they would have done it by now.

Yeah, the same for Progear, honestly...More or less, even though it'll (probably) never get a console port anyway, inb4capcomstillhastherights...

Yeah, Capcom would never give us like... an XBLA port of that, 19XX, 1944, or basically any other arcade game people could possible want. Licensing is like the worst thing in the world, yo. Child soldiers ain't got nothing on it.

I can see Progear not coming, but surely something can be done about KETSUI?

Ketsui could be possible, but very unlikely, since RSG would have to go through both CAVE and 5pb as well.

Also, DragonInstall, about the Full Voice thing, even though its not on the NA/PAL ports anyway in gameplay, but funny thing is, you can hear the Type 1 ship say "Henshin" during the long ass tutorials (pretty much the in-game demonstration aspect.), which I find ironic and stupid at the same time, this should have been included on disc, but whatever...

Hoping the game isn't as hard to find as some of you guys are saying. I cancelled my pre-order because I have the JP version and just can't justify the cash on the NA version right now, with Mushi HD coming out so soon after.

My hope is that they'll localize Mushi HD with the DLC on-disc, but we'll see.

got my copy friday, so far i'm diggin it. :D
slash (shin) mode has been getting the most attention thus far, as i can't quite get the feel for the whole bullet-juggling thing in original just yet - or should i just skip it and use A-shot in phantom form?

oh and for fellow 720p TV owners such as myself, setting the xbox to 1360x768 resolution will (in my experience) make the game look crappy, with lots of doubled vertical lines and jaggies. stick to 720p (or 480p!)

It's here! The first game I've bought at release since 2008, it turns out.

The "liberating" comment was spot on. Everything I can do feeds into everything else, and I can basically... do whatever I want. Like completely wipe out how the game is scripted and make my own way.

I'm sure I'll settle down eventually, but right now that is why I can't stop playing.

I'm not sure of the benefit in doing this - I don't think you can play AK US on a PAL 360 as the discs are region-locked.

According to the game-shop, the us version is playable on a european pal-box.

I'll confirm this tonite, when I play my copy.

Edit: the benefit of this is: I can play the game tonight instead waiting any longer (or even forever?) until it's published in PAL-land. It costs the same as the PAL-version.

Which country are you in? There were definitely a large number of Europeans who had the game in their hands a week or more before the NA version came out. The fact the leaderboards were pretty much fully populated for Giant Bomb's quick look video says it all.

You should always run your 360 at per pixel resolution. If the game looks too jaggy to you, adjust the overscan to a percentage that looks acceptable.

Switzerland. The game was due last week, but it has been postponed to the end of this week... I guess it will come out this week, but if I can choose to play it today instead of waiting longer (and still Paying the same price) I choose now instead of later.

adjusting the overscan was the first thing i tried, and no it doesn't fix it. hell, even the menus look shitty at 1360x768

Slash mode is incredibly fun and nothing is as satisfying as releasing 16 phantoms swords at a mob of enemies whilst charging head first into the fray to get all that gold.

Origin/climax modes left me really underwhelmed. I guess it hasn't clicked with me yet but i see myself ignoring this mode for a little while.

I found the in game tutorial and other modes (Slash was the first mode opened on screen for me) by accident in this game :/

Are you using HDMI or VGA? I'm using VGA at 1360x768 and everything in AKS looks very distinct, perhaps a little jaggy, but there's certainly no doubling lines crawling across the image.
