If your video card is set to 15khz output then you can go up to 640x480i. 480i(nterlaced) is fine @ 15khz. 480p(rogressive) is not (this would require 31khz).

so with soft 15 khz, the moment i switch to a 15 khz resolution the card gets locked to that so that it won't output anything above 15 khz?

i already fiddled around with the stuff i wanted to do anyways. everything's working fine and looking kick ass on my low res monitor. :D
the problem i had with winkawaks was only that it couldn't do 240p output a the time because i was using my lcd monitor that didn't support 31khz.

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

If it's locked to 15khz that's all it will do in theory - but I've never played with it to that extent, to try and force a higher resolution whilst in 15khz.

yeah even with soft 15khz and a low resolution, programs set to a specific fullscreen resolution will have the graphic card put out whatever resolution they're set to. that way i've accidentally fed a 800x600 picture to my monitor. it didn't break though, guess i got lucky with a model that's not too susceptible to higher bandwith.

anyways, i've got a stupid issue. the h and v cent and pos values my graphic card is outputting in 240p mode are way off and i can never seem to set the picture right with just the settings from the monitor. is there a way to fix this?

Single use will rarely cause an issue from what I'm aware.... continued forced use can cause issues. I swear it's what goosed one of my Arcade Cab chassis.

Try accessing the video card control panel app.... assuming you have one loaded. They can have adjustments for that kind of thing.

that only works when i set the resolution to 1024x768, and i doubt it'll save the settings i set there for 240p use :?
