Re: EA amateur Bundle

Not really, "amateur" has been used by many games that have had publishers before, or large teams etc. It's a fail word that should stop being used (since it's basically only been misused, not to mention it sounds dumb lol).

I think you misunderstood my post. By "they" I was referring to EA. Obviously nothing they publish can by definition be "indie".

They're just trying to do the same thing the music and film industries have done and turn "Iindie" from meaning "independent of major studios" into nothing more than a genre. Completely a bait and switch.

I think some of icy's views are pretty fucking crazy (like on scoring) but he's spot on here.

Coincidence you should mention icycalm in your 666th post? I think not!

Also: Sorry, not reading this. I value my sanity/time. If there is a point, kindly give us the tl;dr version.

Since this is one of Icy's "articles", it's very likely there is none.

It's basically icycalm calling Derek Yu a fraud and not entirely "indie" as he uses the Game Maker's code.

Well that's what he uses as the backdrop for it but I'd say some of the points he makes pretty well apply here, specifically that it's impossible to come with a concrete definition for exactly what an indy game in the case of flagship "indy" titles like Braid and Super Meat Boy it's pretty much just something used to appear hip and avoid comparison to superior games.
