Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
I think it's a little too early for petitions, guys. The game literally just came out. Give them a little time to decide to port it on their own before you go banging on doors about it =P. I'm sure they'll port it to whatever console makes the most sense.

the huge slowdown on some of those hachi expert patterns makes it look like they are from something like futari rather than DOJ.. Still awesome though :p

With regards to ports, I think the only thing we can say for certain is that it will end up on smartphones at some point.
Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
I'm not gonna sign that petition, Cave knows what's best for them financially (most of the time) and at this point I would rather have Cave wait and port it to a system that will likely sell more than to port it to the 360 and then decide that ports are not financially viable.

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
I like watch the SDOJ videos, but I need say which compared with DFK 1.5 this game (still) seems incomplete either in score system and presentation.
Seems lacks depth in this game, or maybe is too early. Until now all I have seen is shoot, shoot, shoot, laser, laser, laser and vertical scrolling (linear stages). The bullet patterns seems OK, but know I want more than only dodge, shoot and laser things for free.

This, although I would love SDOJ to be available for my PAL 360, if Cave think its best to use SDOJ as a means to get ppl to move to a new machine like the Wii U, rather than stick with a dieing system im cool with that.Bee Cool wrote:I'm not gonna sign that petition, Cave knows what's best for them financially (most of the time) and at this point I would rather have Cave wait and port it to a system that will likely sell more than to port it to the 360 and then decide that ports are not financially viable.
Even if I dont get to play it for a while its preferable to CAVE pandering to its fandom and going bust

Ugh. I hope their next primary system isn't the Wii U. We don't need Cave tied to another region-locked platform.
The Playstation 4/Orbis is too far in the future to be a consideration at this point.

What are the chances for someone outside of their fandom to pick up their games?
Seems to show some Hyper techniques in Stage 3. Got more than triple his initial score by the end of the stage.

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
The 360 is currently the most financially viable console for Cave. The only major reason they'd have to move development to another system would be due to money-hats.Bee Cool wrote:I'm not gonna sign that petition, Cave knows what's best for them financially (most of the time) and at this point I would rather have Cave wait and port it to a system that will likely sell more than to port it to the 360 and then decide that ports are not financially viable.
Region locking is probably one of the things about the Wii U that Cave would find attractive. If the 3DS is any indication, Nintendo seems to be more aggressively pursuing 3rd party support, so it wouldn't be too surprising to find out that they've money-hatted Cave (wouldn't take much).Op Intensify wrote:Ugh. If the latest rumors are true, the PS4 will be released some time in the middle of next year. Sony wants to release it between the Wii U and the Next Xbox. All evidence points to the Next Xbox releasing at the end of next year. Assuming these rumors are true, the PS4 would fit within the timetable of most Cave console ports relative to their arcade releases. Of course, this is also assuming that Sony changes their policies with regards to games that don't take up a full 16:9 screen.

Porting to the Wii seems like it'd be an extremely unusual choice. Most of the games on the Wii are aimed at the more casual/semi-casual gamer market. Arcade difficulty shmups do not strike me as something that would sell well on the Wii.Op Intensify wrote:Ugh. I hope their next primary system isn't the Wii U. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere yet, but has anyone discovered a loop yet? Or are people pretty much certain it's a single loop game like Cave's other series?

Maybe it has something to do with Rank ? Why bother displaying it in the first place ?

I fail to see the difference. I know they said they wanted to get "core" gamers back with the Wii U, but having seen that prototype godawful-looking controller I seriously doubt it. They both look like white turds to me.trap15 wrote:Wii U, not Wii.
Most likely the same reason the ports of Ibara Pink Sweets and Muchi Muchi Pork give you the option: convenience. It's nice to have an idea of the rank you're at, I think.Maybe it has something to do with Rank ? Why bother displaying it in the first place ?

If Cave put SDOJ on the Wii U.
I bet they'd do something horrible like require the game to be played with the tablet touchscreen.

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
Oh quit bitching. If that's the only port, that's the only port, so suck it up and deal with it. I'd like to play Bug Panic (yes, go ahead and nail me to a cross for that, I deserve it) on something other than a shitty touchscreen, but I can't.Op Intensify wrote:If Cave put SDOJ on the Wii U.

Don't worry, it's Nintendo which means there is bound to be more peripherals than games. No doubt there'd be a Classic Controller like with the Wii for games that doesn't require the gimmick controls.Op Intensify wrote:If Cave put SDOJ on the Wii U.

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
The only problem is that is there's games that do not support the Classic Controller, despite there being no earthly reason not to. Case in point, New Super Mario Bros Wii did not support the Classic Controller. You had to use a remote, or remote + nunchuck (which is outrageously silly seeing as how the motion controls were used for stuff that could easily have been mapped to a button like spinjumping).Zengeku3 wrote:No doubt there'd be a Classic Controller like with the Wii for games that doesn't require the gimmick controls.
I don't see Cave doing something as stupid as forcing touch controls though, but then I don't see them choosing WiiU as a platform for their releases anyways.

Did you know that the Wii U controller has the same number of buttons as the Classic Controller Pro? And that it supports the Wii Remote and all those peripherals that exist for the Wii?Zengeku3 wrote:Don't worry, it's Nintendo which means there is bound to be more peripherals than games. Nintendo's already ahead of the curve on this one

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
First off, hats off to Mesh Control for handling this deal super professionally. The game was extremely over packed and arrived perfect. Thanks! Feedback coming.
Now, first impressions.
Game was set to free play and the demo sound was off. So I was ready to go.
First credit: (playing from my knees just to see if i had the screen adjusted right) Got clipped as soon as I started the game, noticed the larger than normal hitbox. Visuals are really nice, especially on a 15+ year old cabinet. Music is very easy to get into, kinda suits the bubblegum visuals. Died on stage 3.
After a few more credits I know for sure that this game is the real deal. It was made for Caves hardcore audience. No cheese ball hyper away your troubles here, just rock solid gameplay, dipping and dodging.
The game opens very demanding. Stage 1 and 2 will be easily overcome after a credit or 2. It gets interesting on Stage 3. Close knit patterns, fast patterns and patterns that resemble static minefields. Lots of drama on screen.
I've made it to the stage 4 mid boss and got wasted.
This game is definitely for more experienced players. Players that can handle tight patterns and frantic gameplay.
It's a bit tougher than Ketsui's first loop
Around on par with Futari 1.5 Maniac
And it's harder than DOJ, from my experience so far.
Novice players will have a hard time with it.
But with practice, things get easier.
I have a long road ahead of me with this game - it's very fun.
I've never laughed so hard at myself sucking so bad.

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
Considering the iphone CAVE ports are quite popular with ppl preferring touch to traditional digital controls, im all for CAVE making use of the WiiU's touchscreen as a means to attract iphone users to console, just as long as we get solid digital controls.Op Intensify wrote:If Cave put SDOJ on the Wii U.

If this were to happen, one thing the fandom would have to keep taps on we don't see the digital side been gimped due to the popularity of touch. Like what happened to m&k PC FPS games now they play 2nd fiddle to console controllers. (ie "dumbing down" of multiplat PC FPS designed for controllers and enemies that are bullet spunges plus tend to spawn in front of the player).
As long as CAVE design their shooters for the arcade with extra modes designed for iphone / touch plus with separate leaderboards (or a way to list both control schemes we should be free of "dumbing down" imo
Hell theres nothing stopping CAVE from emulating keyboard buttons on that touchscreen to accommodate PC keyboard players
Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
The Wii U touchscreen isn't multi-touch, none of this would work very well.
Rage Pro, Rage Fury, Rage MAXX!
Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
Multi-touch is a software feature, Nintendo can add it at any point if they decide so.
