Re: Question thread
Don't really see the need for a thread such as this, but to answer your question:
This particularly irks me as you can't reflex hyper when things get hairy.
I think this has to do with the slowdown not being properly emulated as it seems to delay your inputs whenever things slow down.Cagar wrote: Does the wireless xbox 360 controller have high input lag? At some parts of DFKBL, when I switch from laser to shot (or vice versa) the ship speed sometimes changes too late and I die a lot because of this.
Is it the game, or the controller?

Re: Question thread
It's not very noticeable but I know there IS input lag on wireless. I first noticed when I played a year with a wireless then went another year with a wired controller (I usually wait for my controllers to wear out). When I went back to wireless, I was able to "feel" a bit of input delay. It's there, but I'm not sure if that's what is giving you your trouble.

Re: Question thread
In any mode of DFK 1.5/DFKL, it's "don't bomb the extend building at the end of the stage". EDIT: Deca is right, it's "don't destroy it with a bomb" as is typical, I was being sloppy thereCagar wrote:What are the requirements of DFKBL strong stage 3 extend item to appear? Half of the time I don't get it.

Make sure you're using autofire all the time in DFK to get a "smooth" transition between shot and laser. If you're only using one button, there's a significant delay when you switch back to laser. Maybe that's your problem?

Re: Question thread
You're allowed to bomb it, the bomb just can't destroy it. If you're worried at all just sit on a hyper until right around when the turret appears and you'll get it every time.

A question thread with only one question.
Let's change that, shall we?
How does the scoring in Dangun Feveron work?

Grab all the dudes, kill everything really fast so that more waves of enemies appear, chain explosions from missiles and stuff.
Beyond that I actually wouldn't mind hearing more specifics, I have very little experience with the game. There's probably a little more to it than that.

Re: Question thread
I played it only a few time but as far as understood you need to catch all the dudes that flying around before they go offscreen.
Maybe there is some mysterious hidden scoring system that went over my head but I thought Dunguns scoring system was pretty obvious.

Re: Question thread
I don't think there really is any. Of course there's the obvious of not dying ever since the extra life bonuses are pretty big and I think they get doubled if you do a TLB clear.Deca wrote:Beyond that I actually wouldn't mind hearing more specifics, I have very little experience with the game. Also kill all extra boss parts for some more dudes.
Re: Question thread
Adding to Deca's post:
-Only a certain amount of disco men can be on the screen at a time, collect them quickly/efficiently enough that this isn't an issue
-enemies don't drop disco men when you're bombing, so do that as little as possible
-no-miss the game to get the joke TLB
-MEOW
That's it as far as I know. It's a very simple system.

I don't really think you can get a stick you're totally happy with for less than 80 or so. You'll likely want a LS-32 to throw in whatever you end up getting.
The Qanba Q4RAF is really nice for the money and works with 360, PS3, and PC out of the box. It's not the cheapest option but I'd say it's the best value.

I understand where you're coming from but I think the real solution to get everything more organized would be to just direct everyone to Strategy with their strategy, tips, tricks, etc. kinds of questions.Cagar wrote:I do know, but asking about controller's lag doesn't have much to do with strategy.MrChiggins wrote:You know there's an entire Strategy forum, right?Cagar wrote:Due to fear of derailing and bumping 4 years old topics, I decided to finally make this.

I've also seen many questions fall to their death there, (including some where I wanted the answer too)
plus slow posting.
I'm on the verge of buying an arcade-stick for my 360, since I don't feel comfortable AT ALL with the d-pad.
It would also be a nice add to my TATE-setup anyways.
What cheap sticks are there? Any 'good and cheap's? Is hori ex2 considered good?
But yeah you're right about your controller lag question.
As for your arcade stick question... I say if you really want one that you're gonna be happy with, you gotta splurge a little bit. Like Deca said, at least $80, probably over $100. I've played with really cheap arcade sticks before and it's not very fun. You get your money's worth.
Other alternatives are the Xbox 360 Versus Controller and Street Fighter Fight Pads. They're both only $30ish and they're WAY better for shmups/fighting games/anything-that-doesn't-require-a-second-analog-stick-games than the standard controller. I own both.
Re:
Seconding the recommendation of the Qanba Q4RAF, although I prefer the Q2 for Shmups. The one I've got only does 360 and PC, but the build quality is slightly more sturdy than the Q4.Deca wrote:The Qanba Q4RAF is really nice for the money and works with 360, PS3, and PC out of the box. Re: Question thread
You could go the Madcatz WWE Brawlstick / Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick route and easily mod it if you can get them cheap enough, Ive just bought a brawlstick for £55, double the price of what they were going for a month back, worth it though as its so easy to mod with a solid steel and plastic case compared to others ive seen.
Although its mainly for shmups I would still want to use it for playing the odd fighting game. Would a JLF bat top or LS-32 be best suited for this?
Another thing I was wondering about is wear on the sticks, will doing too many heavy 360s on a short throw stick knacker it? Are sticks easy to open up and swap out parts like springs / mounting plates?

Sheesh. I've put around 50-60 hours into mine and it's still kicking. But then again that's not very much time by controller standards. I might want to shy away from suggesting that one from now on.Estebang wrote:I've heard of the PDP Versus Controller breaking after less than a month of use.MrChiggins wrote:Other alternatives are the Xbox 360 Versus Controller and Street Fighter Fight Pads.
Re: Question thread
Just register on SRK and lurk the trading forum. You can buy a modded standard edition for 80$ or so. I've owned about 4 sticks and my modded SE easily gets the most play.
Whoever said the brawlstick has no clue what they're talking about. Stay away from that monstrosity. ...if you mustn't then there is one on SRK for 40$ right now.

Re: Question thread
The WWE BrawlSticks are pretty much identical to any other MadCatz SE in terms of internal components; if you're going to swap out the stock parts, it should make no difference. Get whatever's cheapest if you're going to go that route.

Re: Question thread
Is that yours? That's really strange, because I own a modded BrawlStick and two regular MadCatz SEs and my BrawlStick looks nothing like that top picture inside. I can take a photo if you want.
Re: Question thread
Controller lag is a topic for the hardware forum, actually, and has been addressed there (including the Qanba sticks).

Ive just had a look in mine and its nothing like yours, I was worried for a minute there incase I had bought a lemon (phew)Casper<3 wrote:Sure doesn't look the same to me
I snapped this pic while I was there

Its almost Identical to the Wii TvsC Fightsticksonly it has an extra 2 PCBs in it and a headphone socket. BTW for some reason I cant turn off my 360 slim by the main off button while its plugged in, as it switches itself on again, very odd

Re: Question thread
Yeah the madcatz se route works fine as well as long as youre swapping out all the hardware. I actually play all my 360 stgs with a full seimitsu sf4 SE, picked up the q4raf more recently mainly for Gundam Extreme Vs and left it all sanwa.
I don't mind playing fighters on the LS-32 at all, but I use the qanba because it's all nice and big. I'd use it for everything but I really don't care for the JLF on stgs. Also I can't stand bat tops at all, but that's all personal preference.

Re: Question thread
I'm pretty sure the top pic is the Hori EX2. As far as I know, every MadCatz stick uses quick disconnects, so nothing should be soldered to the PCB.
Re: Question thread
Probably worth mentioning that the madcatz SE is EXTREMELY easy to swap hardware on. I think the q4raf is also all quick disconnects but I haven't had a reason to open mine up yet.
