I don't think it's impossible that they could release it in Europe; although I'd be surprised if it's just the PS3 version.Kiken wrote:So the Euro-release rumour is back in effect, huh?Zero Gunner wrote:According to NCS the PS3 version may be getting a Euro release...

One has to wonder whether NCS' story is based on a preliminary listing on another website, or whether it is the product of real communication between wholesalers and retailers?

The rank on this game really is fucking stupid, made all the more stupid by virtue of the rank adjustment not working properly in practice mode.
Has anyone left G-Rev a message about this on FaceTwat or whatever means we are forced to communicate with people nowadays?

Re: Under Defeat HD
The rank offset works fine. For every No Miss during a level, assume that the rank increases by 2 points and for every No Bomb during a stage, assume the rank increases by 1 point. With solid play it will therefore max out by the third stage (as default rank is somewhere around 4 or 5.. not 0 or 1). My suggestion is to simply practice all stages with the rank offset at 10+ (even the first level).DrTrouserPlank wrote:The rank on this game really is fucking stupid, made all the more stupid by virtue of the rank adjustment not working properly in practice mode.
Things that G.Rev absolutely need to fix with a second patch are the following:
The embarrassing slowdown during the stage 5 boss second form when Arcade Mode is played in tate.
The 4:3 display issue (although I have to wonder if Sony's awkward display requirements are to blame for this).
As annoying as all the other changes are in this port, the above two are glaring faults and need to be addressed.

Re: Under Defeat HD
The rank offset doesn't work in practice mode, or at least it doesn't match what you get by no-missing to stage 3 in arcade. Using +10 in practice is easier than what you get on the run. There are sections where the additional ships found in arcade mode are not present in practice. Absolutely 100%.Kiken wrote:The rank offset works fine. Re: Under Defeat HD
Yeah, either the rank setting doesn't work fully or I'm doing something wrong. There are plenty of extra enemies that I have never encountered in practice mode. Mostly popcorn choppers but some bigger enemies too. To give some concrete examples: the two blue choppers just before the stage 4 boss, the popcorn that appear behind the train in stage 5, and most of the popcorn in the stage 3 parts just before and after the midboss. It's especially big in stage 3, which is really easy in practice mode without all the popcorn.

Re: Under Defeat HD
If this is confirmed it's yet another thing to be patched.
On the DC practice worked well IIRC.

Re: Under Defeat HD
Ok, I just checked this (spent an hour in Practice Mode playing just stage 1-4), and sure enough, the game is universally zeroing out every variable at the beginning of the stage. Even the high-score for the level keeps resetting. By No Miss/No Bombing the level, I could get the rank to behave accordingly once I was about 75% through the stage regardless of the Rank Offset setting. As a result, apart from practicing bosses, Practice Mode in UD-HD is worthless.
So yes, chalk this up to a third item that definitely needs addressing. Well found, DTP.

Re: Under Defeat HD
Another thing that needs patching is at the very least making sure enemies go inactive if they are off-screen because I'm fucking tired of having missiles flying in from the side midway up the screen and killing me. Enemies also need to stop shooting much sooner. This version has a passion for point-blanking you with enemies that shouldn't be shooting at all.
I know these were issues that were mentioned before but they really do make this game a complete assbrick.

A friend of mine shared my ratio video regarding the PS3 version on G.Rev's facebook. It doesn't appear to have gotten much attention.

I haven't really noticed this happening. I thought I would, as I get totally wrecked by those battleships in stage 2. I dunno.DrTrouserPlank wrote:Another thing that needs patching is at the very least making sure enemies go inactive if they are off-screen because I'm fucking tired of having missiles flying in from the side midway up the screen and killing me. Re: Under Defeat HD
Is anybody here playing this on a flat screen HDTV? (yeah it's a joke) because all everyone is talking about is the faults with the 4:3. Yes the other problems still exist but it's a dream to play in widescreen on my 46in. plasma.

Re: Under Defeat HD
Yes - arcade mode really is that bad. DC version is miles ahead of this new release. New Order mode, while broken, is still enjoyable in 4:3. I don't even play Arcade mode anymore.Guardians Knight wrote:is it really that bad in 4:3?

Re: Under Defeat HD
Can anyone give any info on the mechanics for this? Playing new order. Just opened it tonight as been on shelf for nearl 2 weeks as been back in hospital with my heart again.
Is it just simple that you don't fire to recharge your pod? Also how do u unlock the new order extend mode as mines greyed out?
Thanks
Darren

Re: Under Defeat HD
I don't know about information for New Order specifically, but here is a guide for the arcade version. You should immerse yourself in the strategy forum and ask lots of questions there. You will become super buff and sexy. Just ask nZero.Dazzyman wrote:Can anyone give any info on the mechanics for this? Playing new order. Re: Under Defeat HD
I finally got to sit down for an hour with arcade mode in TATE today. This may be a bit redundant by now, but holy Christ you guys aren't kidding about the slowdown. I could have made a sandwich while dodging bullets in Stage 2. At first I thought the slowdown was artificial or intentional, making things easier. If that were the case the game would be crawling in sections like the Stage 3 mid boss, but it doesn't. My Slim PS3 was getting warmer than usual, too. Is this really just the result of piss poor programing?

Re: Under Defeat HD
Update from G.Rev on their Facebook page:
G.rev is pleased to announced news for Under Defeat HD, including a new vehicle available as DLC and an update for the PS3 version.
First off, we’ve added a series of videos for shmup novices on the official G.rev youtube channel. One of the guys at the studio, a rookie at the genre, was put up to the challenge of beating the game. We were hoping to show that conquering Under Defeat isn’t an impossible feat, so if you haven’t played shoot’em ups much in the past, you might find a fellow novice’s gameplay interesting.
Next, the aircraft that the protagonists fly wasn’t the only machine that the Imperial forces had in development. Gamers will be able to download the VKL 7.04(V)W. The vehicle is a heavier equipped craft, therefore slightly slower than the original VKL5.03 (P), and it’s shooting dynamic is also a bit different. We hope you’ll take it out for some missions.
The DLC pack will be available for the XBox 360 version on March 28 for 400MSP. Though we do not have a final confirmation yet, we are planning to release the same content for the PS3 version on the 28th as well (600 yen).
We hope to post pictures and video of the new craft in the coming days.
Lastly, we have noted all the requests for a game update. The following features will be implemented on the update to the PS3 version (to be distributed on the same date as the DLC).
1) Dual Control Mode
Holding down UP on the D-pad in the tutorial screen when you press the button to proceed to the next screen will activate Dual Control Mode. This will allow you to control two crafts at the same time with one controller.
* This mode has already been implemented on the 360 version.
2) Adjustments to SD monitor compatibility. Yes, we got rid of the letterboxing.
3) Adjustments to BGM and SE playback.
4) Miscellaneous bug fixes and adjustments.
Please note that this update is currently planned only for the PS3 version. As addressed above, Dual Control Mode is already available for the 360. One update has already been implemented for the 360 version, so it may take time to make a second one. We do plan to do the update and ask for your patience in the meantime.

I am excited and pleased as long as this update for the 360 version actually happens.

Does this mean we will have to pay for the DLC in order to get the updated fixes?

Bit of a cheek to be flogging DLC for what was already a pretty expensive port of an old game. At 400 points I can't imagine it's going to generate any money for them; they might as well have stuck it in the patch as a goodwill gesture.

.. as long as they've fixed the slowdown, because frankly it's so prominent that it's like playing an entirely different game.ExitPlanetDust wrote:*cheers* Hurray for fullscreen SD TATE!
I hope they fix the bug that causes your ship's bullets to spray when targeting the outer cannons of the stage 4 boss.

Re: Under Defeat HD
I checked out the first replay they posted... the guy is using max lives and playing New Order Mode (which is incorrectly translated in the English captions.. the Japanese reads New Order Mode, yet the English that appears after says Arcade Mode). The final caption at the bottom makes it sound like he's going to be credit feeding...drunkninja24 wrote:Update from G.Rev on their Facebook page:
