And so it begins. Isn't that the way it started on 360, too?

Haven't been happy with G.rev lately, but I will probably pick it up. I'm curious to how they'll use the touch screen and rare touch panels. If they use them.

Thank God for region-free hardware!

Whoah, did not see that coming at all.

I could see something like Senko no Ronde working well with d-pad (or analog stick) + touch screen.
Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
Vita purchase justified 100 times over.
You know, for the past couple of months, I had been thinking about how neat it would be to have Senko on the Vita. Guess G.rev read my mind.
I'm kind of hoping it's a prequel to Senko1. I think that could work really well. They could mix aspects of Senko1 and DUO gameplay, and maybe add some new things. My only concern is that if this doesn't get an arcade release first, then it could be pretty unbalanced and buggy initially. I do hope they save a real Senko 3 for arcade+home consoles.

Bit more info at Andriasang:
http://andriasang.com/con069/senko_no_ronde_vita/G.Rev held its latest streaming web event today. While 3DS shooter Kokuga was one of the main focuses of the event, the studio also announced PlayStation Vita support. Its first game will be a new entry in the Senko no Ronde shooting series, with plans for a release in 2013.
In comments shared with the press after the broadcast, director Hiroyuki Maruyama said that today's announcement was just notice that they've decided to develop the game. They're currently at the planning level. However, the framework for the game has been mostly finalized.
Maruyama believes the final product will end up being greatly different from past entries in the series. He even said that they may end up not using the Senko no Ronde name.

I thought the first Senko was really shoddy. I'm surprised you guys liked it.

Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
I thought the two-player was pretty good. The single-player was kinda dull, so I'm not sure about a handheld version.
Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
Not really excited about it being on vita but if it's just a spinoff then I guess that's cool. Hopefully it's story focused and ends up in english somehow. I always wished DUO's story mode was translated.
Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
It's not perfect, but to call it "shoddy" is beyond hyperbolic. Perhaps you never learned how to play it properly.Special World wrote:I thought the first Senko was really shoddy. I'm surprised you guys liked it.
If DUO's sales relative to its features are anything to go by, that is exactly what will NOT happen. But who knows, perhaps G.rev is unimaginably stubborn and still haven't learned their lesson. I, for one, would prefer it if they lived long enough to give me a proper Senko sequel.Casper<3 wrote:Hopefully it's story focused...

Erm, this is a fighting/pvp game we're talking aboutCasper<3 wrote:Hopefully it's story focused

I still play the first senko every once in a while, the dashing/firing mechanics and managing boss uses take a while to get used to but it's awesome once you get some good matches going. Also more deep than you'd expect, apparently more so than DUO (overdrive ftw).
Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
I'd say that Rev.X and DUO are equally deep, but in different ways. DUO requires greater care in BOSS stock management, has a more varied melee system, and then there's also having to learn how to effectively use each partner.Zaarock wrote:Also more deep than you'd expect, apparently more so than DUO (overdrive ftw).

Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
I know what kind of game it is ...but I played through DUO's story mode in it's entirety and would love to be able to do so in english. Besides if it's on a portable device, no one will take it seriously.Zaarock wrote:Erm, this is a fighting/pvp game we're talking aboutCasper<3 wrote:Hopefully it's story focused

Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
People will take the game seriously. But perhaps just not snotty shmup fanatics.
I'm a HUGE Vita fan, and this is great news for me. With the Vita's crisp screen, and fantastic dual analog sticks, being able to play a game like this on the go is something to be excited about.
P.S. sorry to respond to an old thread. I've been away from the shmup scene for a while and I'm playing catch up here.

Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
Haven't heard any news regarding this since the initial announcement, which could indicate that it was cancelled or put on hold.

Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
Last I heard, G.rev is still working on it (or something Senko-related at least). However, they've had to put more of their focus on contract work in order to fund their in-house projects.Friendly wrote:Haven't heard any news regarding this since the initial announcement, which could indicate that it was cancelled or put on hold.

Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
I still have to remind myself to complete DUO 100%.
The one thing that took the longest time for me in Rev.X was the 1000 ranked matches. x.x

Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
I really wanted the sequel to come to the states. I only got to play the Wartech thing that was the first one, but give it an hour with a friend. At first we were
and after an hour of figuring out how footsies worked we were suddenly beside ourselves with hype.

Ugh, seriously... Why?
And when the hell is Kokuga getting localized?

Of course, that's just an opinion.

I missed this a couple of months ago. Sheesh. GRev support for the Vita. That means, of course, that I now pretty much *have to* buy one. Man.

Re: Senko no Ronde VITA
It's been "temporarily" put on hold, according to a blog post from a few months back http://www.grev.co.jp/blog/archives/date/2013/04 (at least that's what it sounds like?).
