Question about Gears 3

Post by evil_ash_xero »

I didn't really like the 2nd one, but I was wondering if the new one has enough pizazz or whatever to make it worth my time? I played the demo of it, and it seemed like it had more oomph. Maybe a little more intense? I dunno...could be my imagination. Still hate the characters. And the "Cole Train" is a new low. "Gobble Gobble Gobble Mothafucka!". Is he very prominent in the game?

Does the game have more variety or anything like that, that could sway me? And by pizazz, I mean more intensity, more elaborate set pieces, more interesting level design...better boss fights...more boss fights...you get the picture. The graphics are certainly great.

I have no problem with 3rd person cover based shooters. I just don't really like almost any.

I'm kinda desperate for games, at this point.

miles better than the (imo shitty) second game, not nearly as good as the first. story mode is decent, but horde is where it's at assuming you have people to play it with. standard multiplier is pretty decent, but can seem kinda random at times especially with the new shotgun.

Yes.

Gears 3 was definitely the best of them all. The ending was a bit unoriginal but it kinda worked. The characters were nicely developed and had more depth to them, the voice acting seemed better, the graphics were great and all around it felt more like a complete experience rather then a repetitive rail shooter (which is what Gears is- just replace the rails with chest high walls).

The cinematic scenes were also very nicely done. The one scene near the middle where they brought back a rehashed Mad World tune for a few minutes tune was probably the best in the series. Normally I'm not one for doing what they did there, but in this case it actually made sense and it seemed like they'd put a great deal of thought into it beforehand.

Cole Train is back, and he even has his own level where you get to play as him. If you hate him then you'll probably hate this level because it's -all- about him and his occupation.

All in all, I think Gears 3 had a hell of a lot more variety in it then the last two games put together. They finished off the story arc (and left nothing open to speculation, for the most part), so I respect them for actually terminating the story properly without leaving franchise whoring strings dangling for other stuff to latch onto.

I'd say play it, but don't pay $60 for it. If you can get it for $20-$40 it's probably worth it, but not at full pop (no games are IMHO).

I still feel Gears 1 was the best of the trio.
The main reason? Because it felt more focused thanks to the core gameplay consisting of Marcus and Dom in the single player campaign.

The later games aren't as fun to play because of the additonal AI allies who IMO are constantly getting in the way and disrupting the flow of battle.

I like the Horde mode best in GOW3, and that's worth the price of admission on its own.

I'm leaning towards checking it out. I can't rent it, where I live.

I saw the Cole Train football flashback...geezus....

However, I hear that the story in this is actually kind of good. I usually don't care, but when the characters are pissing me off so much...a good story can go a long way with that.

Gears of war 3 is rubbish imo.
Don´t have a good time playing it.
Very bad storytelling. But maybe it is more a mulitgame.
I realy like the first one.

This game doesn't have a booklet. It's just...a leaflet. Is this common practice?
