Help with Outrun 2006 PC version

Post by Zeether »

I just got the PC retail version of Outrun 2006 off Amazon since the Steam version was removed, and I cannot get it to run under 64-bit Windows 7. When I try to start it with the CD in the drive, it shows the loading cursor and then nothing happens. Tried switching compatibility and nothing worked. Does the retail version have some issue that was fixed in the Steam version? If not, what did I do wrong? It's a European PC version as well, so that may be a factor since I have a US PC...

What's with the sudden Outrun 2 blackout from all digital distro platforms? Did Sega lose the Ferrari license? I know Ferraris are showing up in EA's NFS Shift now.

Sega lost the license a while back. That's not important though, I want to get this game working.

EDIT: No-CD patch did the trick for some reason.

The game's multiplayer servers are down, but is it possible to connect directly to another player for some racing? If so, I will buy a copy instantly.

Failing that, I guess it would be possible to set up a VLAN and play that way. Hell, I'd buy a copy for offline time attack competition alone.

It's also been de-listed, but if you've already bought it, Outrun Online Arcade should work in multiplayer for as long as Xbox Live is in operation.

Yep, I'm quite familiar with OOA. ;) I've played the multiplayer tons and even got some decent times on the leaderboards. I'm just always looking out for more ways to have some arcade racing competition in any shape or form.

I´d get the pc version. I was so happy with my OR2SP for the ps2, but this pc version blows it away. The resolution of this game is variable. You can enter any resolution your video card supports. Looks really crisp on 1080p. My laptop is too slow for that so I play in 1366X768 which is the exact resolution of my tv and I set up my video card to display that exact resolution). I used to hate pc games, but this game and the recent txpe-x arcade leaks work great.
