I'm surprised there isn't a hiscore thread for this game. It's definitely one of the better PC98 shmups out there.

I'll start by opening up a table for NORMAL, and if people play other settings (HARD, VERY HARD, that stupidly hard one after that, and SCORE MODE), I will open a new table accordingly.

NAME - SCORE - STAGE , also specify what difficulty/mode you're playing.
NORMAL DIFFICULTY
Code:
1. chum          - 10,400,270 - ALL
2. Fu            -  9,947,690 - ALL
3. LtC           -  9,929,090 - ALL
4. Gwyrgyn Blood -  9,330,839 - ALL
5. SFKhoa        -  8,627,610 - ALL
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

SCORE MODE
Code:
1. LtC           - 6,054,870 - ALL
2. Fu            - 5,571,580 - ALL
3.
4.
5.

Love this game:
Gwyrgyn Blood - 9,330,839 - ALL

Should be a lot higher but I spend all my time on Very Hard. Most of scoring in this game is just not getting killed though.

Not getting killed gives 2x to all the bonuses, and no bombing adds another 2x. So mainly, not getting killed and not bombing at all.

These scores date back to 2007 so I don't know if it's still possible to post it
Normal :
Fu - 9,947,690 - ALL

Score mode :

Me too! What's that bar on the right hand side between "score" and "area" that fills up slowly?
And what other PC98 shmups come recommended (apart from ther obvious Touhou)?

When you completely fill it up for the first time, you activate a shield that takes one hit (hitbox size remains, like ChoRenSha).
When you fill it up again w/ the shield still in-tact, you get 100k bonus points.

Thanks-that's exactly what I needed to know :D
And what's the mysterious Junk Bonus for? No-one seems to know, at least not here!

I thought this was pretty crappy run and didn't even think I'd beat my old score until I realized how much endgame bonus you get. Probably will try to improve this later.

(EDITed new score)

EDIT2:

Score mode:
LtC - 6,054,870 - ALL

Try Burning Dragon Plus, my second fav to Flame Zapper. Garudius '95 is my third and Last Breaker is also ok (they're both CO2 Pro games btw). There are more PC-98 shmups, but none are really any good.

I assume nobody ever spent enough time with this to figure out how the medals really work?

This game is amazing! Kickass music, terrific pacing, fun patterns, and so on and so forth. It encapsulates everything that makes shmups so enjoyable. :D
It is quickly becoming one of my favorite shmups, and I don't think I've gotten to like a game so quickly in a while.

Now that I got the Normal difficulty 1CC, I am trying to clear the higher difficulty levels.

Hard Difficulty
M.Knight - 9,199,500 - ALL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4vucDAWsGI

I played a bit of Very Hard and it's ramping up the challenge, so the clear may not be as fast. I also heard Mania was ridiculously stupid and I am kinda curious to see what it's like once I get the Very Hard clear.

Here's a little score improvement, though I wasn't actually playing with that in mind. Simply playing the game and sucessfully clearing it is loads of fun already.
