Triggerheart is definitely impossible.

It can go in the pile of all the other shooters I've got that are fucking ridiculously stupid.

How many not-impossible shooters do we have left on your list?

Tried it a while back and it seemed just as hard as everything else.

My 6 year olds were proficient at survival mode 1.5 strong, and they were actually 5 at the time.

Unless there's something I don't know it's ridiculously difficult. Without a hyper or bomb for most of stage 3 onwards it looks completely impossible because the screen is flooded constantly.

Problem with shooters is they are either much too hard or much too easy. None of them are anywhere inbetween.

Yup, I pretty much stand by that. Without infinite hyper from stage 3 onwards it's bullshit.

Planky, please forgive me if this sounds condescending as I don't mean to be, but since you seem relatively new to shmups in general, are you familiar with the concept of "rank"? Most shmups become harder on the fly - by making bullet patterns faster and more dense - if they notice you're doing particularly well (sometimes by how many power-ups you have, how long you've been on the current life, and other such things, but what exactly determines rank depends on the game). Rank can make it difficult to accurately gauge the difficulty of one shmup against another. Gokujou Parodius can be either piss easy or as crazy as arcade Gradius 3 due to rank.

As an example, I notice you have a score of over 200 million at the stage 5 boss on Futari 1.5 Original. At the end of my 1CC run, after all the endgame bonuses, I still hadn't broken 200 million. If you'd kept the score down during that run, you might have been able to squeeze a victory.

Don't you have DeathSmiles IIX? Give that a try. I have a feeling the low difficulty will actually disappoint you.
So, are we expected to turn our TV on its side?!

Check this section out, you may find evidence of shooting games that are possible to complete there.

I still haven't opened it but I'll give it a go.

I know about rank in games but in futari I know it's tied to the counter, and 200M or not, I rarely get my counter to 20,000, occasionally it gets to 25k but that's usually in stage 3 and a death or a few bombs usually brings it down pretty quickly. It's not as if I'm playing it with a high counter consistently.

I've tried some of those games in that section and can confirm that they are indeed impossible.

Lmao, I only started playing triggerheart again yesterday after a little break and I'm more pissed off now than I've been for weeks.

I can only assume that you literally need to spend many many hundreds of hours on each individual game to get anywhere near to completing them because there is zero carry over from one game to the next.

Gah! fucking backspace acting as back (alt+left) strikes again

I think you need to go and play some doujins for a while mate, theyre easy and rewarding and Ill go and beat a couple when arcade shmups are kicking my arse

genetos (the only stg ive cleared first try and im shit)
bluewish resurrection / plus (autobomb, slow bullets, good entry stg for L2P)
edens aegis (bullet cancel well and you dont have dodge half the time)
samidare (not easy but its only 3 stages)
Zop / zop black (visual style didnt gell with me, but the gameplay is spot on)
exceed 3rd black package (click on my sig for my review)
zen-ichi (ramps up in stages 4-5, but stage 3 is so much fun)
jamestown (if you have a shit pc dont bother, its quite hungry for sys reqs)
touhou (been a retard & dressing as a loli is not mandetory)
demolition gunner: isad (easy and fun)
score rush, nomltest fs & kenta cho (good practice stgs)

also play some rail shooters like rez, sin and punishment 2, child of eden

also isnt castle of the shikigami easy?

DTP did you ever play deathsmiles 1? That only took me <5 hours to 1cc (arcade rank restrictions) and I'm no means a great player.

I think TrouserPlank (I do not believe he is a real doctor) is intentionally trying to create a thread that is like a parody of the forum.

that thought does enter my mind tbh 2 tries of THE kinda gives it away, if he does the same with genetos its a dead give away

It wouldnt surpise me if he is really good at stgs and can beat DOJ death label with in an inverted joystick. Or he's ZUN trolling all us touhou haters

I second the Deathsmiles suggestion. Rank 1/2 is damn easy, and it's not hard to obtain anymore since it's out in like every region of the world.

In fact I 1CCed the game just a few days ago using Rank 3 4 times and Rank 2 the other times to reach a suicide-bullet-less Castle stage.
