For the most part I agree, but in this particular case the game appears to be locked out of devices lacking a front-facing camera for no good reason, and so far only the pirates are able to play the game on these older-but-still-good devices. Cases where pirates get a better version of the game than paying customers is almost more disgusting than piracy itself.MR_Soren wrote:I'm also utterly disgusted to learn that people would pirate a $5 game from a small and financially struggling developer.

Just got this myself, really fun to play (except for the fact the screen grips your finger making it hell to move properly after some time of play)
I notice that the endings were quite a surprise in the case of Shotia and Leinyan
Still, now to access the 2nd loop now I've 1CCed the 3 girls on normal, 2nd loop requires hard mode and I'm guessing the original second loop requirements.
ARE the endings different if you finish on the 2nd loop?
Also one complaint
The game crashes at some points if your device has a few other things running, usually right before the launch of a new game

Wouldn't be surprised if Apple doesn't want brand new iOS games to be 3GS compatible.

Fuck Apple. Their stuff if nice, their methods are not. I've just installed Cydia, to play a cracked version of a game i just paid for that runs perfectly fine on my disqualified phone. What's that all about? Oh and i tried out Rayforce. Fuck you Taito, it's a shoddily coded disgrace that's been deleted already.

Re: DDP:Blissful Death (iOS) and DDP:Maximum (Windows Phone 7)
Working fine here on jailbroken iPad1, and thanks for the heads up to whoever said it works otherwise i never would have tried it.
I think the only reason they dont officially support older devices is because the game eats an unacceptable amount of memory. I imagine it might try to eat more than the 256MB of allocated RAM on occasion, causing instant crash if it tries to on older devices, although I've yet to have one.
Maybe they thought it wasn't acceptable to tell people they must not have anything else running in the background to play it on older devices? Or just didn't want people giving bad ratings due to crashes where the user doesn't know about allocating memory by closing apps running in the background?
I would definately like an official explanation though as it seems a bit stupid how they didn't want my cash this time round. I guess it's possible they may end up officially adding support for third gen devices in an update though.

Re: DDP:Blissful Death (iOS) and DDP:Maximum (Windows Phone 7)
In my experience - I work for O2 in the UK as a retail sales advisor, and technical support staff - there is a very high percentage of people out there who buy and use a smart device like an iOS device, Samsung Galaxy Nexus etc, that have absolutely no clue that their devices can multitask, and that you have to close apps/kill tasks to free up running memory, until you inform and demonstrate it to them. I encountered a lady last week who complained about her iPhone 4S (generally considered one of the most powerful and stable) running slow and draining mobile internet data, and was surprised to hear that she had no less than 120 apps running at once, a majority of them net-connected. Another guy managed to kill the available RAM in a Galaxy S2 through Live Wallpaper, a crapload of widgets, and loads of apps in the background.Triforce wrote:Maybe they thought it wasn't acceptable to tell people they must not have anything else running in the background to play it on older devices? This is probably the easiest way for Cave to avoid the "app sucks! keeps crashing!" type of feedback from the general populace.

Why Cave didn't advertise DOJ working on 3GS is beyond me. Maybe it launches a virus called EXY that eventually bricks your device.

I wonder why the original version was ported instead of black label. Isn't BL just a more refined version of the game? This isn't like DFKBL, where the changes are much more than small tweaks.

"Chaining kills in Blissful Death is hard and requires endless practice runs. Working the attack and defend meters in Resurrection is dynamic and intuitive. At the end of the day, it's just a lot more fun."
Smartphone mode is why resurrection was a success. I know that daifukkatsu was made after DOJ, but I know from a regular iphone consumer point of view a lot of people are going to be disappointed in this and this quote hits it on the head. I like playing for score and things like that, but I really wish they had made a gimmick mode for DOJ as well. DOJ is hard to chain and requires true practice and daifukkatsu, well I could chain whole levels after a few runs on the iphone. DOJ will be one of the first times that I just sit in practice mode to try and be even remotely competitive(55m first ever clear of the game on iphone).
In all fairness, I can only beat touhou on easy, get to 1-5 on strikers II, and get to stage 5 on crimzon clover. Yet, I get top 5% scores on every mode for every ship on iphone. What I'm trying to say is that I forget that shmups and the people who play them are a pretty niche hardcore group or at least on this forum they seem that way. If cave is struggling so much, they should look at the success of resurrection and I wouldn't be surprised if the sale on resurrection generates more revenue than this game, once reviews start hitting like this one.

Re: DDP:Blissful Death (iOS) and DDP:Maximum (Windows Phone 7)
I must also admit to being perplexed by the lack of a smartphone mode, but the lower price of £3 will help a bit i am sure. I actually reckon people who don't know their shmups will be more put off by the ridiculous "Blissful Death" title before they even get to reviews etc.
Dodonpachi Resurrection sounds like a cool game title. "Blissful Death sounds like a Twilight fanfiction title.

The price point is the only way that I could make sense of what they ported in my head. They are probably just testing if the lower price sells more units and is overall more profitable than things like DS, but I believe DS is their most successful port according to leaderboard numbers. All I want now is a futari port and I am set.

Re: DDP:Blissful Death (iOS) and DDP:Maximum (Windows Phone 7)
Resurrection was most successful according to leaderboard numbers. I do miss having a smartphone mode like on Resurrection, but I guess they're trying to keep dev costs down and experiment with a lower price point.
I suspect the lower price point helps. Mushi seems to be selling at a fast pace, assuming those aren't all pirated copies on the leaderboards.
Regarding Blissful Death's system requirements: I'd prefer to hear an explanation before blaming anybody. Might just be that Cave wanted to reduce customer service costs or bad reviews by eliminating the device that produced the most complaints, or maybe the older devices cannot handle the second loop.

If they offered BL as DLC I don't think many people would notice the difference, so I doubt they ever will.
