Studied database design and networking in college. Somehow ended up developing desktop and web applications instead.

I'm the typical unhappy attorney. I used to practice environmental law, but became disillusioned with the piecemeal and pale reformist approach to these problems, to say nothing of the prosaic nature of legal research and writing. Now I use my Japanese and work for Toyota, which pays obscenely well but is as boring as Chinese water torture, and only slightly less debilitating.

If I ever pay off my student loan debt, I'll probably go back to teaching English or doing translation work. Music composition and loafing in the sense of The Razor's Edge is my real aspiration, though.

Definitely, mate! That's precisely why it isn't pointless! I really can't stand this business ontology that has a whole generation of students believing that the only purpose of education is to earn money.

I hope to be in similar shoes to yourself at some point. Going back to university to do an MA in English this year, and from there I'll probably end up pursuing academia further and either doing research or teaching in some capacity. What level do you teach at, if you don't mind my asking?

Currently employed in web development that is nothing but Ruby On Rails. Technically it's a co-op job that functions as an education credit, with my major being game design and development, which is better than it sounds aside from students being disgusting and the actual industry being terrifying. Probably going to become a semi truck middleman or something out of college.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

Smak chronically reduces the sex drive, so it's a cyclical business model.

I'm a math teacher for those students who want to get into a financial/business school here in France. Almost all my free time is spent on it : 30 past midnight here, just finished preparing the math test for tomorrow.
However, it is very rewarding to see how those kids DO learn stuffs with you.

I have a degree in art education, but work as a bank teller: not heaven, certainly, but it beats the heck out of the lengthy period of unemployment and underemployment that preceded it.

I want to get the Master's in Aerospace in order to keep myself busy and my mind active (plus work pays for it!). Unfortunately, while my current engineering job pays well, I don't use any of the engineering/math skills that I studied so damn hard for. I'm hoping that with the master's in Aerospace (focusing on control systems) I'll be able to transition to something more interesting.

Tier 1 IT Support and Hardware Deployment Specialist

Mostly resetting passwords and configuring terminals, workstations, servers, and printers for deployment and then phone-based support with installation as well as remote configuration and troubleshooting when something goes wrong.

It's my first IT position out of school so it's helping me get the experience that I need.
