found a supplier cheap enough and good set will be 30€ max with plenty of colors.

a few questions though:
are u using the 5mm beads (hama midi dunno for the perler) or the 2.5mm?
how do you choose the size of your sprite?
I mean what is the process to make the exact same sprite bigger or smaller?
I understand we try to transpose pixels by beads but what is the process if u'd like to make a larger sprite?
Do you set the grid with more width and height and voila?
I'm curious.
Dono if this question was directed at me but:
Generally people use the 5mm Midi Perler/Hama beads. I personally use perler.
I take a snapshot of what I want to do in mame, open it in paint and zoom in 800%. Basically every pixel is 1 bead, and I count how many pixels long and how wide it is before doing it to see if I have enough space and feel like I can make it.
Not exactly sure what you mean here, it's usually better to just to do the sprites in their exact size in my experience. I don't really know how to make a bigger sprite to work with without distorting things.
The pegboards you use can be arranged as you see fit, keep in mind they are 29x29, so if you need to make something that is bigger than 29x29 you might need 4 pegboards in order to fit it easily.

Hi guys
I have a whole thread about the process (a complete wall bead picture = the first boss battle from R-Type) here:
http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16714
You have to be a member on ArcadeOtaku to see this thread.

In case you are not a member on ArcadeOtaku here a 2 (recent) pics (around 150000 beads at the moment / the complete pic will have around 400000 beads) :

And here is what I'm making at the moment for the wall. It will go on the bottom of the wall and when it have the complete width of the wall this part of the picture will have around 40000 beads (around 16000 at the moment).

Hey chempop, its goin well just now getting back into the routine of things and doing
perler again. Bosses are usually too big to do, but if I ever see anything that is
a respectable size I may try it.

O_O GODLY. That is completely insane dingsbums.

Was at a convention this weekend (Polaris 26) and saw a dealer selling some really awesome Perler stuff.

I was tempted to buy a nice Mega Man one, but then I remembered I could just make it myself :)

Hmm I see Perler has 25% off everything until the 15th ...

Tron lightcycles. You'll have to click the above image to see the full picture since it's longer than what this forum will display.

I wish somebody would make a navy blue or midnight blue, since it would've been better for the grid. I used Perler Dark Blue, which didn't want to fuse properly. I would lift up the paper and the beads would be stuck to it instead of each other. So, some areas are a bit over-melted as a result.

After I took this picture, I realized I made a mistake with the black line width in the upper portion of the work. UGH!

It's okay. I cut those blue ones out with an X-Acto knife, replaced them with black, and refused them from the backside. It looks better now.

Don't make it about winning, your stuff is great too! I definitely am blown away by (and can hardly imagine) the giant wall-sized image of the R-9 and Dobkeratops. Extremely impressive. But I really like seeing all the little detail in each game's ship coming to life in your work. Loved the Darius Gaiden ship! Have you played the game yet?
Made a giant arcade-adventure: Pig Eat Ball. Also made shmup with multi-ships: Shoot 1UP DX, Gunstacking game: Serious Sam Double D XXL, and more shooters.

If that was directed at me, I've dabbled in Darius Gaiden but nothing noteworthy at all. I just opened up my closet again with my box of beads I've yet to use that've been sitting there for ages, I think it's time for me to get back on them soon :>
