Mushihimesama HD (360) 24th May 2012
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
In case anyone's getting their hopes up, there's at least a 99.999% chance that this will be region locked, because...
1. Microsoft Japan now "strongly discourages" region free games
2. They'll either get Rising Star to release it in the West or do a DSIIX-style GoD release

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I don't see why they would want to discourage region free games seeing as teh 360's pretty much dead in japan now. Also if its released by RSG it better not be called bug princess...Estebang wrote:In case anyone's getting their hopes up, there's at least a 99.999% chance that this will be region locked, because...

If they called the game, "The hardest Game EVER!" it would probably sell better than any other title they would give it.
Espgaluda III needs to happen.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I don't get why CAVE does not tries to make any cash of the whole "hard bosss ever" thing. They could do a hardest boss ever app or whatever.DragonInstall wrote:If they called the game, "The hardest Game EVER!" it would probably sell better than any other title they would give it.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Wasn't there a homebrew GBA game that emulated all of the bosses bullet patterns from CAVE games? The name escapes me at the moment, but you could play against the bullet patterns of all of the bosses on various difficulty levels. I tried it out, but it wasn't very fun on a small screen with the GBA D-pad.psoslayer wrote:

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Sae this announcement on Siliconera and am pleased to hear that Cave's not quite done with us yet, but I also noticed this bit:
Mushihimesama HD will have enhanced graphics and additional content not in the PlayStation 2 port which Asada reminds us was not developed by Cave.
I was always under the impression that the PS2 ports of Mushi and Ibara were published by Taito but ported by Cave themselves...does anyone know if Asada's blog post goes any deeper into this?

Cave is like the coach who after pushing his scrubby team to a championship victory, up and leaves the team for the major leagues, then realizes his team needs him and sticks around instead.

Yeah, this sudden shmup push, complete with a new arcade DDP, is really unexpected considering that last financial report.

Just more evidence to show that this community loves to jump the gun and cry foul whenever possible. Gotta love it!

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I am. I've been anticipating SDOJ since its early reveal (way back when it was linked on that Japanese guy's blog and everyone was jinxing it to be a VN), so this news is just a kick in the nuts.Estebang wrote:Really? No one else is worried about Saidaioujou's porting prospects with this news? I think that's a much bigger issue than whether Mushi gets a second console port.

Re: Mushihimesama (360)
I'm pretty sure the sales had more to do with the games themselves rather than the health of the console.Gus wrote:360 pretty much seems dead in Japan. With AKS not doing too well and IB going to the bargain bin within weeks it makes sense why they'd move on.
Interesting. The most likely candidate is the Xbox 720-or-whatever, since that console hasn't been officially unveiled yet, but is very likely to be released by the end of this year or early next year. If true, the only reason I can think of for Cave to switch focus from 360 to Next Box would be that MS provided them with incentives to do so. The 360 seems powerful enough to handle the types of games that Cave puts out, so I see no other reason why they'd choose to switch.Phellan Wolf wrote:By the way none of you has mentioned what EOJ translated from Asada's blog and it is this is going to be their last game/port on current gen systems. He saya that have already begun developpement on new non announced systems *sighs* I thinks this means no IBARA/IBARA KURO on 360 and saidaijou neither. I can't understand it they've could release every single port on 360 but it looks they don't want it. They just prefer to push the ios dumbed down versions instead
Wii U wouldn't surprise me though. If the 3DS is any indication, it seems like Nintendo is putting a bit more effort in securing 3rd party publisher support and exclusives. On top of that, the Wii U's specs would allow for a relatively smooth transition from the 360, and the improvements that Nintendo is making to their network infrastructure would bring it closer to XBL in terms of features. Plus, it will most likely be region locked, which I'm sure is something Cave and other publishers of niche games prefer.
There's a very slight chance it's the PS4. It's still about 2 years away from release/unveiling, so it wouldn't make much sense to begin development on it now (I don't think dev kits are even available yet, much less available to the smaller 3rd party publishers). Besides that, Sony would need to take a less strict policy on the types of games they allow on their consoles.
I'm guessing all these games were nearly complete prior to that report, so it wouldn't have made much sense to cancel them at that point.Estebang wrote:Yeah, this sudden shmup push, complete with a new arcade DDP, is really unexpected considering that last financial report.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Shit son, why so much hate on the hand held versions? It's not even the same division that makes them.
Google Translate tells me that Unlimited Mode "is for people who like festivals."
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Whatever console they move on to, let's just hope that the console will have proper arcade sticks.

The whole reason me, and many others are into shmups is because one day i randomely decided to type "hardest boss ever" into youtube to see what happened.
But you have to speculate to accumulate. It would be cool to see some kind of boss rush competition from cave at some point, they have said they now realise they have a following outside japan.
And I agree with the bug princess title problem. Seriously, no cave, NO! I actually got a couple of my friends to look at mushi on my ipod briefly, and then I go back to the title screen and they're like "Bug Princess?? ahahahahahahahah!" Cave should call it something else completely.
Also, WTB 1.5

I'm crossing my fingers it becomes reality and that 1.5 and HD sprites are included.
THANK YOU, CAVE!

If RSG do end up localising this game (and that's a very big 'If' at this stage), I'm sure they'll know better than to market it as Bug Princess - they seem pretty switched on.Illyrian wrote:And I agree with the bug princess title problem. Unless CAVE insist on the name for consistency with their other releases

Except it isn't consistant because mushihimesama bug panic was named mushihimesama.JOW wrote:If RSG do end up localising this game (and that's a very big 'If' at this stage), I'm sure they'll know better than to market it as Bug Princess - they seem pretty switched on.Illyrian wrote:And I agree with the bug princess title problem. Mushihime-sama (with or without hyphen) in big oriental-looking font with the kanji/hira positioned behind it and "Bug Princess" or "The Bug Princess" in a small but stylized font below it. That's what random otaku would relate to.
I wonder what RSG could conveniently position behind reco to make her look like a DDD cup.

I tweeted Cave to ask if this is their final 360 release, they said "Nothing is determined." Take that as you will.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Could you also tweet them to fix the counterstop in 1.5 if 1.5 ends up in the release? That would be appreciated.

The counter stopping.Illyrian wrote:There's a counterstop bug?

To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.

I was merely asking if as you can start the game with max power you can score enough points to stop the counter on the 3rd stage, or if it was a glitch or bug on the PCB.
