Mushihimesama HD (360) 24th May 2012
Re: Mushihimesama (360)
Colour me excited. I've only had a chance to play a few credits on Brendz' PCB, but I definitely like the feel of Mushi. Here's to another expensive JP import.

Re: Mushihimesama (360)
Imo I doubt it will be regoin free, with RSG publishing in both US and PAL there is a good chance it'll be localised, given there isnt that many more regoin locked CAVE shmups RSG can localise barring the 5pB ports
I just hope AK doesnt flop

Yeah, I think we can almost count on an RSG localization as long as AK is profitable.
I already have Mushihime-sama on PS2, but I would buy this again in a heartbeat for the clearer image, online leaderboards, potential new modes, ability to use my HORI EX-SE, and not having to use that stupid Swap Magic disc.
I've been playing the iOS version lately, and I absolutely love the flow of the game, the music, the artwork, and the stage designs.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
If this doesn't include Mushihimesama, Mushihimesama Arrange, Mushihimesama 1.5, Mushihimesama 1.5 Arrange, Mushihimesama Black Label, and Mushihimesama Death Label all in glorious 16:9 HD graphics (that toggles to 4:3) with proper autofire settings, I'm going to be pissed.
Re: Mushihimesama (360)
speaking only for Original mode from the two, Futari has it by a nose. Better production values, more interesting shot options, and a (vastly, imho) superior scoring systemDragonInstall wrote:Curious.. to those that played Mushihimesama and Futari extensively, which was the better game overall?
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
All perfectly reasonable demands, to which I´d only add intact attract modes.ratikal wrote:If this doesn't include Mushihimesama, Mushihimesama Arrange, Mushihimesama 1.5, Mushihimesama 1.5 Arrange, Mushihimesama Black Label, and Mushihimesama Death Label all in glorious 16:9 HD graphics (that toggles to 4:3) with proper autofire settings, I'm going to be pissed.
EDIT: And initials input for high scores.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
HD...what do they mean exactly? Is it done like the current ports, or just upscaled?
Either way..not a favorite, but I'm happy this is coming out. I'll definitely get it. The PS2 version makes me ill. And I think CAVE's wonder years are over, so I might as well get all their oldies.

Definitely excited about this, it's something I'd been hoping for just behind Ibara...Fingers crossed for a RSG localization since there's less and less reason to shell out for a j360 with every passing day

Really? No one else is worried about Saidaioujou's porting prospects with this news? I think that's a much bigger issue than whether Mushi gets a second console port.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Don't care as of now. Haven't played or seen anything on Saidaioujou, have played and enjoyed Mushi.Estebang wrote:Really? No one else is worried about Saidaioujou's porting prospects with this news? I think that's a much bigger issue than whether Mushi gets a second console port.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I didn't think this would happen, I'm very surprised! Strange how Cave is re-releasing old games now.
Still though, the original has a certain charm and mystique that I found somewhat lacking in Futari. Mushi's world felt more consistent, and the music is better. Futari gets a little silly with jellyfish, T-Rex, and the whole Dino Riders stage-5.
Futari is probably the better game, with the scoring and all, plus considering Black Label...Curious.. to those that played Mushihimesama and Futari extensively, which was the better game overall?

I'd say Futari, by a mile:DragonInstall wrote:Curious.. to those that played Mushihimesama and Futari extensively, which was the better game overall?
— every mode's scoring system is infinitely better, there's no contest;
— there are no annoying switching option powerups;
— ground gems are picked up automatically when you use laser;
— better shot type choice, in the sense that you don't have to choose between bad and worse (even better in Futari BL where both shot types are awesome);
— TLB in Ultra doesn't have attacks that are outright stupid;
— amazing stage 5 and less boring stages 1 & 2.
Mushi 1.5 looks better than 1.0 in many regards, but so far I'm not sure it will surpass either version of Futari in terms of sheer fun, both in scoreplay and survival.

I'm a little confused by all the people saying shmups aren't profitable. Sure, they aren't popular in the sense that CoD and Modern Warfare are, but weren't Mushi Futari, Galuda 2, and Deathsmiles all Platinum Hits? How is that not profitable?
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
They're probably referring to overseas sales.Blackbird wrote:I'm a little confused by all the people saying shmups aren't profitable. Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
They only sold well by Japanese 360 standards, which are pretty damn pitiful.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Futari and DS came out a while ago and things seem to have taken a turn for the worst since then
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Cool, hope it's region free/RSG'd.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
THIS! For the love of all that is holy they better (in addition to an accurate port) give us back our attract mode, and initial input for high scores. Removing those features in MMP/PS and AKS was ridiculous.JBueno MD wrote:...to which I'd only add intact attract modes, and initials input for high scores.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Has it been confirmed yet whether this will come on disc or as download?
Re: Mushihimesama (360)
Since Daioujou and now Mushi are on 360, I was hoping they'd keep going and re-release Espgaluda and Ibara as well, and give the PS2 Cave ports a HD makeover. But it looks like the problems they had trading last year has put paid to that.Kiken wrote:Yes, it's unfortunate that they won't be porting Ibara/Ibara Kuro or putting Dangun Feveron on Live, but we've received 10 disc releases (including DFK BL Package Edition) and one download on the 360. This has been one exceedingly port heavy generation for Cave.
I'd hope they have a change of heart and quickly pump out the last few games in the back catalogue for 360, and then move all their new stuff from Saidaioujou onwards to whatever next-gen system they've decided to utilise, but one can but hope.

at least you realize whats going to happen

I'm.....dare i say it.....HAPPY WITH THE PS2 PORT?

This, I don't see the point removing these features other then trying to make it seem more like an arcade game rather then an arcade game or something ridiculous.Shuurin wrote:THIS! Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I kind of wish the same thing, but if CAVE are serious about making a freash break on a next gen system then they will need some IPs for it. At Least if things dont go well for them they can use Ibara or Esp Galuda to make some easy money.Icarus wrote:I'd hope they have a change of heart and quickly pump out the last few games in the back catalogue for 360, and then move all their new stuff from Saidaioujou onwards to whatever next-gen system they've decided to utilise, but one can but hope.
However I dunno how harmful emulation / too close for comfort will be in the future
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
As much as I like the announcement, I feel it's a sort of swansong for Cave.
Releasing a previous title in a series that has its latest installment out for 2 years already is awkward and kinda silly.
"oh it's the same game that came out for the PS2 a decade ago? with that hardest boss evah?"
"blah"

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I'm sure they seriously considered Ibara/Kuro, but the final decision had to be based on the fact that Mushi is the more profitable franchise.
They'd better get Matsuri onto this, at least.

Hopefully they add 1.5. To me that would be the most important feature to add in this version.
Espgaluda III needs to happen.
