Just got a Batrider PCB with the Jap A and accompanying Korean B-roms.
I heard that the A version is not used for scoring, for some unknown reason.
What are the differences between it and the B version?
I much prefer picking up the extends instead of just getting them.
Do i need to burn a set of B-roms to get a PCB eligible for scoring?

Yeah i know, but there isn't enough info there.
Besides, the only thing that according to them differentiate between the two versions (changing Garegga option formations with C) works on my A-version.

Surprised nobody got to you with an answer.
The secret is C-button support, I think. Moving options were enjoyed by many top-flight players; it was not correct to say that the A version is not used for scoring so much as not as profitable (I suppose this could be fixed with a simple table addition...). I would fiddle with this in MAME to see if it is worthwhile to you.

Re: Differences between Batrider A & B-version?
Thanks for the answer!
For some strange reason using the C-button to change Garegga formations worked fine on the A-roms.
But i felt it was better to be safe than sorry so i changed the roms to B anyways. I was lucky enough that the seller didn't know that the "Korean" roms were infact Japanese.
So i still get to catch my extends.

I'm no expert on this game, get confirmation first.
Re: Differences between Batrider A & B-version?
Looked into this and as suspected the World of Arcades site is wrong!
Both versions have the Garegga-ships change formations with C, but since Batrider was marketed as a two-button game they added the Street Fighter moves to change formations in the B-version, so players could change formation even on a two-button layout.

Thanks for the deduction, now tell me how you would like it worded on World Of Arcades ?Eaglet wrote:Looked into this and as suspected the World of Arcades site is wrong!

It's a great site. I've used the Raizing part a lot of times looking at dip switch settings etc. Saved my ass yesterday!
How about:
"This is the so called B-Version, released for the japanese market. Acc. to the manual, it allows the Garegga formations to be changed by inputting Street Fighter-style moves (for 2-button machines)"
The actual moves and the aforementioned info can be found in the lower part of the second page of the B-version manual: http://www.world-of-arcades.net/APPA/AA ... _Addon.pdf
