Does anyone know the story behind Insomnia going nonpublic?

Post by Mischief Maker »

I'm sure Icycalm once again failed to live up to his nickname and that the actual story is hilarious. Anyone know the inside scoop?
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

is this about icycalm's website or forum or whatever? then it's because he didn't want people quoting his cave translations on other places without linking to his site anymore.

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

That was EOJ, not icy.

icy was sick of idiots (read: people who disagrees with him) posting at his forum so he blocked access. Now he demands a fee to register there.

No, it's even better. You can't even access his articles without a login now.

Shot in the dark: he wants to try his hand at being a professional game reviewer/blogger/whatever. I'm not sure when the homepage got a makeover, but it looks much more professional than I remember it.

Though the site would have to be pretty amazing to be worth paying 20+ euros for access when most (all?) of his competition is free.

Maybe Icycalm is envious of Friedrich Nietzsche becoming mad, and he wants some self-destructive evolution for himself.

Unfortunately, isolating your site and closing off access to practically everything, requesting someone to pay before entering, and offering little to no description as to what the people are paying for, is not the way to go about "professional blogging" (if there really is such a thing).

He's pretty much a huge sociopath who goes hiking around the internet tracking down what people have said about him, and reporting it as if it's news. He should have stuck to abusing powers publicly, at least then he had an audience.

Everything before he moved to his new domain is still free to access.

It was mostly spurred by some doods haxoring the shit out of him, and he decided to pretty much start over from scratch in terms of website layout, etc.

Fun fact: essays and reviews can still be viewed:
http://insomnia.ac/essays/
http://insomnia.ac/reviews/

It's awesome how 80% of the essays are basically copy-pasted passages from Thus Spoke Zarathustra. What a fucking joke.
