Wow, and I really thought I was getting somewhere with Darius Force. :O

Now... what to do about Score Attack?

Plasmo, you should ask people for weapons selected too.

For the time being I'll leave SA out. It's quite heavy as it is now.

Good point! Will add that.

Set 1 - Original - Medium
Plasmo - 45,762,419 - ALL - Missiles/Implosion

Died once and didn't trigger the special stage. So I guess this score is easily beatable.

Should be more difficult to beat. Did a no miss (incl. secret stage) and had some good scoring overall.

These are one or two weeks old already. I might as well post them as I'm not planning to go ahead soon. Mediocre play in Original Mode, but I think the Death Mode run was pretty good.

Set 1 - Original Mode - Medium Skill
Battletoad - 39,917,170 - ALL - Missiles/Velocity Cannon

Hope it's ok to post a non-1CC score... I'll be posting a 1CC very soon! :D

Yesterday I was too drunk to get past stage 1... Still could play Shienryu decently somehow.

Set 1 - Death Mode - Expert Skill
Battletoad - 198,761,453 - Stage 3

The trick in this mode is probably to use your bombs as they don't decrease your multiplier that much.
Also these almost invisible tiny grey things in stage 1 are bastards. Must not let them shoot.

Score Attack EX2 - Death Mode - Expert Skill
Battletoad - 114,600,389 - Replay

Doesn't matter if this goes on the board or not, love this stage. Not too bad run, but still have no clue what to do on most bosses.

I tried my hand at the Death mode challenge and barely made it to Stage 2 with 78 mil. I mashed ESC at the Game Over screen so wasn't able to nab my full score :(

Haven't been able to make it to Stage 3 yet on Expert Death Mode, but just made it to the St.2 boss with around 148 mil. I'll keep at it and post a replay soon.

(...)

Okay, here's something competitive:

Set 1 - Death - Expert
damakable - 220,880,551 - Stage 3

Replay

On bosses in Death mode... it seems that the bosses don't give you any points at all, but the parts you can shoot off give good bonuses for using Implosion on them. So try to take out all the turrets, but then consider bombing to get past them. The St.2 boss for example, it makes sense to use a bomb or two to get past it easily so you have more lives for earning points in St.3 where there's a lot more stuff to implode. Of course, ideally you'd never bomb or die in order to have max DAL at all times, but bombs don't hurt your score quite as much in Death mode.

Woh, stage 3 looks ridiculous with this popcorn spamming bullets all over the place.

Set 1 - Death Mode - Medium Skill
Battletoad - 905,721,291 - ALL (TLB)

Beat it with bonus stage and TLB. Does anyone know what the requirements are to play the bonus stage? This is the first time I've seen it.
I'm pretty sure 1 billion is possible, had some dumb deaths in stage 2.

You have to no miss the whole game.

Nice score btw! You don't happen to have the replay for this one maybe? Would love to watch it! :D

Uhm, apparently not. I was on my last life. And an earlier no miss run (in Original mode I think) didn't let me into that stage.

Sadly not. Game didn't ask me to save it after my run, so I must choose "record a replay" before starting my run from now on to go sure. But don't worry, I'll improve that score anyway. ;)

Are you maybe playing some outdated version? There were some difficulties with the extra stage in earlier versions. The requirement is simply a no miss run. At least that's what Udderdude said some time ago afaik.

Very sloppy run. First death in Stage 3, and another immediately after it. Managed to hold on but score took a huge dive because of it.

If you ever pause during a run XOP won't offer to save a replay -- and if you choose "record a replay" from the menu, pressing Escape will quit the game immediately without showing the pause menu. I had to figure this out myself through a bit of trial and error.

Has anyone put time into Absorb Mode? I'm particularly interested in knowing what the levels next to the reflect shield gauge mean. I think it caps at 5. From what I can glean from playing, the speed at which enemies fire and the amount of bullets increases with each level. Anyway. Fun mode, if a bit of a cluster fuck with so many suicide bullets on screen at any given time.

No I'm playing the non-freeware version in the XOP Ultra bundle, purchased and downloaded on the first day. Should be the newest version if I haven't missed something. I'll ask Udderdude if he doesn't show up by himself anyway...

Ok thanks, mustn't get interrupted then. :/

Yep it's just that, the number shows rank, so "5" has most and fastest bullets.
I've played this mode a bit for fun, seems nice, but needs some familiarization and planning. A reflect also damages enemies, but no matter if it's popcorn or bosses, they all lose a 4th or 5th of their health. So it can't be used to kill popcorn or whatever. And thankfully boss milking is very limited this way.

EDIT: Reflects can't be used for killing popcorn obviously. Edited above.

I feel like over 100mil is possible in this mode. I had to use a reflect in stage 2 that probably took away 5-10 mil, then I missed out on the TLB with a really dumb mistake on the end boss bleh.

Not sure if it's ok to post multiple scores a day. I'm in a XOP trance and can't seem to snap out of it.

Set 1 - Death - Medium
Plasmo - 852,598,039 - ALL

Died all over the place but it's a start I guess.

And here comes a twist for Death Mode: As we all know you get x25 multiplier for everything killed with the implosion weapon. However, if your implosion is locked on to something and you're killing another enemy with your regular shot, you won't get the multiplier. This sucks big time and can easily destroy your score.
As far as I've found out, it doesn't matter if your regular shot kills an enemy while you're locked on with the implosion weapon on the same enemy. So at least it's not that frustrating.
