I abslutely hate it when I have to phone up an authority / large firm (i.e. cable company) because they sent me a letter about some stupid bullshit. But the worst thing most of the time is the call itself - automatic voice navigation which takes forever, they put you on hold for 10 min. +, when you finally have a human being on the other end of the line you can count with a 90% change you are in the wrong department & they connect you to the next guy (which means the next 10 min. + wait  ), some of the employee's are the most unfriendly persons you can imagine & to make matters worse - some of these "service-lines" aren't free - no in fact they are way more expensive than a normal call :?

This is in my top ten of ultimate annoyances:

When people pronounce the letter 'H' as 'Haich', rather than 'Aich'.

Drives me nuts man.

A surprisingly large number of people have this pet peeve. I knew a girl who couldn't even stand being in the same room as other people eating unless she was also eating.

Personally, the sound just makes me hungry. :D

On another note, I've found that after a long time of only watching tv/movies on my computer, I'm totally incapable of sitting through commercials in broadcast television. They drive me up the wall. So much wasted time.

Yeah it's seriously irritating. It's like Hollywood figured out the formula for watered down Chris Farley in a can. Doesn't taste like real Chris Farley.
I used to like Chris Farley when he was called "John Belushi" 8)

Here's another annoying thing, I don't like movies and television programmes where the homely dude is paired up with a great-lookin' broad. It's "funny," but not "ha-ha funny." Honestly, when I saw The George Lopez Show, I thought the actress that played "Benny," his mother, was supposed to be his wife. No way in hell a guy like him could ever get a chick like the actress who plays his wife.

In a way, it made me more appreciative of Roseanne and even Married... With Children - those couples made sense to me 8)

HAHAHAHAHA

Girls are notorious for saying what they don't mean. The same dude they are talking about will probably be seen as a little bitch for not knowing when to take the hint that she isn't interested (if he's lucky enough not to receive a restraining order as well  ). Personally, it's not my style to stick around when there is no chemistry. I've made that mistake a couple times when I was younger, and I never looked back. Unrequited love is one of the worst feelings a human being can experience, up there with castration for males and clitoridectomies for females. Only difference is the latter two are more likely to cause negative long term effects.

So yeah, they might entertain the idea of "prince charming" chasing them in practice. But is that what most of them really want? I highly, highly doubt it. Cause the instant the dating power has shifted to the female, the guy is seen as lesser. They can sense his subtle (or not so subtle) urgency (women in general are MUCH better at men on picking up on emotional cues) and it's basically a building block for the drama they create for him. At that point, the chance of things working out between them are 1%.

Women should be doing most of the perusing, not men. This is a unspoken law etched into the minds of nearly every woman since ancient times. I make damn sure that even if I really lust after a girl, I don't let her know the full extent of my desire. Playing it cool is always useful in such situations. AND it doesn't repel girls.

That's a good call. I've always found that it helps to just play dumb about the whole attraction until either they make a move or it just happens naturally. Anything else and theres a good chance they'll turn you down just to use you as a device for making themselves seem more desirable to their peers. I'm from a small town though, and people will walk all over your reputation just for a laugh if you're not careful. High school never ends in those places.

Can't say I miss being single.

I think this would my first reaction. However, I'm not successful with the girls I like/want because nothing "just happens naturally" to me, so I figure I have to do EXACTLY the opposite of my first reaction, which is to go for it and ask her straight up: I find you very interesting and attractive. Would you like to go out with me this Friday? A concert, a dinner, a gallery opening, something casual or formal - my treat. It's best to be direct/succint and to the point 8)

If she's a no-go, then the shame and humiliation that comes from being rejected isn't as strong and overpowering as if it were someone I had been into for a long time and I didn't have the courage to make a move on. The worst would be getting some patronising "friends" speech, which I would feel absolutely necessary to dispel if to at least save face (i.e., "You and I are NOT friends. at. all").

Wow, get out of my head, man! This is all stuff I do!

EDIT: Minus the telling her that I find her interesting and attractive. I prefer to show her these things rather than tell her. :P

People that try to talk facts with no references to back up their claim, especially when its implied you're expected to know. Or even worse, stating something as law and not actually justifying the logic of it.

By that messed up logic I should be able to say for example a stupid comment such as "black people stink. BECAUSE I SAID SO" and everyone would listen and actually believe it as gospel. In reality it'd just be taken as a stupid comment regardless, so why does everyone else get away with it and not me? :?

Gamestop rant: Finally thought I'd pick up Arkham City since I have a long weekend. Had games to trade. Gamestop spent 10 minutes talking my ear off about why I should have their fucking card. I conceded only to find out they didn't have the used copy of AC they were hinging my actions on. They sent me to a nearby store in a mall (jesus), which I again conceded to (I don't know why). I waited in line 10 minutes only to find out the used copy they had somehow had no artwork. At this point I was rather mad, but couldn't blame the person at the counter. I explained the situation but then just purchased the game new. Gas and time wasted I'd have done a LOT better just buying the game on amazon.

I'm mostly mad at myself for not just buying the game new to begin with, but truth be told, I rarely have good retail experiences anymore. Just my dumb impulsiveness that forces me out of the house (though grocery stores are still awesome.)

I've shopped a few times at GameStop, but I know the pitfalls from dealing with these dregs of society and their absolute incompetence/lack of video game knowledge. I ended up getting Beautiful Katamari (used) and Raiden IV (new) since they - surprisingly - were priced lower than at Amazon. Admittedly, GameStop are horrible and I'd avoid them if I could 8)

Badly designed toilet roll holders. Especially when the toilet paper is owned and bought by a share holding company. Usually the roll don't turn that easy and the paper itself keeps ripping.

Why does sellotape split when your peeling it off the spool making you go round and round before you get a solid strip :?

Why do pet stores insist that your fish tank water is of a precise specification and yet, they don't sell the fuckin water... I don't know what I'm doing i'm not a biologist expert I just want to see pretty fish.

Why does windows always trick you into believing it can sort its own problems out, only to make you wait 20 minutes to find out that afterall, its bolloxed.

Like many of you, you probably got paid before Christmas. This is a bad idea, since every January (ie right now) I feel poor, the weather is miserable, the heating bills are due in and IVE STILL GOT 2 WEEKS BEFORE PAY DAY!

I've finally got the refusal technique down. Took me a while, since I'm generally quite a laid-back, placid, pusher-over type, but my new method is as follows (and I'm not being sarcastic):

1. Anticipate being asked if you'd be interested in x.
2. Wait until the question has just left the lips of shop employee.
3. Say 'No thanks' in a flat, disinterested tone. Give no explanation, and leave no pause before giving this response.
4. Normally that does the trick. If bombarded with more info or follow up questions, repeat 3.

I've learned the worst thing you can do is show signs you're thinking about the offer, whatever it may be.
