Cave Reprint issue. What were they thinking?
Cave Reprint issue. What were they thinking?
Not sure if there's a reason for this, but it appears that Cave has incorrectly sized the instruction sticker/sheets for their art kits. I bought a DOJ and Ketsui kit and both include instruction stickers that are too long to display in the instruction space of most cabinets including Astro City, Windy, etc.
Why would Cave do this?

I think the originals were oversized too. I have a set of Ketsui copy art that I got along with my board from a Japanese pcb shop and the instruction strip is too large for the Astro City display area.

Really? That's weird, I just sized my Espgaluda original art and it's normal size. Deathsmiles also fits just fine.jepjepjep wrote:I think the originals were oversized too. Does anyone here have original Ketsui or DOJ arts who can measure the instruction sticker/strip?

I have the original DOJ art and strip but not pop. Art is around 13 3/4" by 9 1/2" (roughly) and strip is 19 1/2 by 2 3/4 (roughly). I'm guessing yours is the same size. It's not the same size exactly as my other Cave art.
Re: Cave Reprint issue. What were they thinking?
The art fits in an E2 instruction space. Well, not exactly fine as it's a. but on the small side

The original marquee art is 13 3/4" long? It's not A4 size? I'll have to check my Cave reissue art when I get home, but I think it's A4. I'll check the dimensions of the strip too to see if it's consistent with yours.Muchi Muchi Spork wrote:I have the original DOJ art and strip but not pop. It's 13 3/4 yes. It's definitely original unless they reprinted them right after the kits came out. The art has yellowing edges and a little piece of crusty old yellow tape. Definitely aged.

Interesting. I thought A4 was, for the most part, industry standard.Muchi Muchi Spork wrote:It's 13 3/4 yes. It's definitely original unless they reprinted them right after the kits came out. The art has yellowing edges and a little piece of crusty old yellow tape. Definitely aged.
Re: Cave Reprint issue. What were they thinking?
Just checked, the strip is the same size, about 2 3/4" x 19 5/8". My other Cave strips are about a full inch shorter in length. The marquee art on my DOJ set is A4 standard, not 13 3/4". Are you sure yours isn't 11 3/4" long? 13 3/4" seems like it'd barely fit in a lot of holders.Muchi Muchi Spork wrote:I have the original DOJ art and strip but not pop. Yeah here is a pic.

Re: Cave Reprint issue. What were they thinking?
Yeah, I just saw someone's partial Ketsui kit and it looks like that one's the same way. I guess they changed back to a more common standard with Espgaluda.Muchi Muchi Spork wrote:Yeah here is a pic.
So why in the world would they reprint the marquee to A4 size and leave the strip so that it doesn't fit standard instruction spaces?

I don't know, but from a practical perspective, if you have a scanner and a printer capable of doing photo prints, you can scan the art and print it to photo paper and the quality looks just as good for displaying and then you can have whatever size you want. And that strip could be printed out in 2 sections because of the change when it goes to the Hyper part and wouldn't look ugly. Just sayin...
Re: Cave Reprint issue. What were they thinking?
Use scans and take it to a print shop , you can use any size and have it on glossy , sticker , vinyl or whatever :
I did !
