Actually, the trick is don't shoot, you can move around to avoid bullets. The longer you survive without firing a single shot, the bigger your score will be, and of course you'll get powered up after getting shot. Only works on your first ship.

Cool, I always thought that the "surviving longer without shooting" was a different secret (not awarding the homing wings).

i think you will also skip some levels if you survive like that for enough time

The former. I bought it from Arcadiabay and they offer an "ultrasonic bath" for PCBs which I opted for.

Huh, turns out it may not actually be an original after, though it was sold to me as such. Found this thread and my board does look the same as this one, though mine doesn't use the 90629B-3 B-board, it reads ***29B-2 instead (the beginning is covered by a sticker) and the EPROMs are in different places.

So I guess it's an (unofficial?) conversion, then. The game roms should still work like they should, right? I mean, it doesn't look like a dime-a-dozen bootleg.

it's an original Capcom board so I that makes it a conversion then , maybe you should contact Arcadiabay .

Already did.
Arcadiabay wrote:The Board that you have received is a 100% original Capcom CPS1 Board, and yes, it has been converted as the text on the Boards description said:

Umbau ohne Suicide Batterie, mit allen Unterlagen (Repros)
Umbau is the German word for conversion, so it was advertised as an original Capcom Board that was converted.

Anyway, I don't see what difference it would make whether Capcom programmed the EPROMs or we did ? In order to salvage CPS1 & CPS2 Boards from suicide we have to reprogramm the Code ROMs in any case ..

Best regards from Husen,
Tom Gröger / ArcadiaBay
Caught by the language trap. It's the one line on the description that wasn't in english. Guess I can only blame myself, though the shop's practice is questionable here. Were I more of a collector I'd more more pissed, now I'm just a bit miffed I paid more than it's actually worth.

Fairly bullshit line at the end since Ghouls 'n Ghosts doesn't even have a suicide battery originally. Also, I like how the original sales page has the bit about it being a conversion in German and then they have "Very rare PCB!" in English.

Arcadiabay wrote:The Description is in German because we don't have support for more languages in the desciptor line, and after all, this is a german site - sorry that you missed to translate it but it was not by purpose.
And last: our converted GnG Boards are worth exactly what you have payed, after all we sell a lot of them for this price, so the answer is definitely no to any kind of refund.

Best regards from Husen,
Tom Gröger / ArcadiaBay
I could start a battle about this, but...eh. Let my experience stand as a cautionary example when dealing with Arcadiabay, be absolutely sure you know what they're selling if you choose to buy from them. Ask before purchasing to make sure.

For a shop it's not to bad , here on the forum I say between €90,- and €110,- , last Raiden II here went for $ 100,- but that was cheap .
I'd personally go for Raiden DX !

I dunno Ghegs, I think they've been purposely deceiving. They're obviously intending to pass it off as an original to non-German speakers. 299 euro also indicates it's an original, not a board that's been converted from a cheapass CPS1 game.

I'm sure European internet consumer law in Europe gives you the right to return for any reason within 7 days of receipt as long as the item is undamaged etc. I would exercise that if possible.

Ah, here we go:

"Under distance selling regulations (which apply only in the EEA) you have the right:

- to return goods within seven days of their receipt, and require a refund (the supplier is entitled to deduct the costs of carriage). There are exceptions for perishable goods, custom-made goods, and dated goods (such as magazines);"

In the mean time, let's try this again:

From mesh control (who got it from prof. ganson, I believe), an original G-Darius board.

...right?

It's called Illvelo: Illmatic Envelope. It came out in 2008. Thankfully there's a port of it, but it only came for Japan on the Nintendo Wii. But you can get a region modder, etc.

Hope you are able to track it down and play it! It is very special.
