Sky Shark / Flying Shark
Sky Shark / Flying Shark
I'll kick this one off, since I was playing it last night. I look forward to seeing exactly how bad I am at this game when I see some of your scores...
270,550 - Area 48
MOD EDIT: Locked due to thread duplication. While this one came first, the other has a maintained score table. - ZK

I didn't keep an exact score from this one, nor did I push it like some people did back in the day.
The London Record was a 12,000,000 24 Looper (roughly 12 hour gametime).
I think Rando did about 6 Loops of this too.

The score should max out at 9,999,990 (Marp should have a replay of such a feat...). Beside that, i don't remember doing more than 5-6 loops, my dad could play for hours, but never did more than 7-8 loops too.
I think i've never done more than 3M, but i can't recall too much...

Rando's Dad
Wow! - Its definitely in the family then - Rando's Dad could do 7-8 Loops of Flying Shark PCB!!
I didn't witness the London 12 hour record, although I know the guy who did it (from Finsbury Park N.London). It would have been a 9,999,990 COUNTER STOP at the 20th Loop.

Never played the NES version, but the arcade version seems to have each level split into 16 "Areas". The area you got to shows up in the high score list next to your score. So Area 48 is the end of the 3rd level, where I died fighting the boss. Once you pass him, there is an extra man at the beginning of level 4, so with a bit of practice I should be able to greatly increase my score. It's been so long since I played this, it's totally different than a Cave bullet-hell shmup...Area 48? I have the NES version of this game and I'm pretty sure there are not 48 areas. The arcade and NES versions must be DRASTICALLY different.
Re: Rando's Dad
Was it done on easy or normal difficulty ?. The PCB manual list Easy [A] as recommended settingDEL wrote:Wow! - Its definitely in the family then - Rando's Dad could do 7-8 Loops of Flying Shark PCB!!

Setting
Yojo! - It would have been Normal setting, as the arcade wouldn't have wanted it otherwise. Although its a bit of a moot point, as once you can loop it all day at Loop 3 Rank, then a slightly hard 1st loop doesn't matter.
