I thought it was obvious that no one was taking it seriously and that everyone was just having a laugh at it, but maybe someone actually felt seriously threatened by it. You never know. Ah well, no biggs.

I think the mods should go ahead and PM certain members if they feel theyre getting out of hand, but just moving in and proclaiming that this discussion is at an end! when maybe other members still have something they want to share or explain is weak. I certainly didnt think the thread was serious and it wasnt polluting the boards any.

Locking threads in general has always bothered me. If two people are going at it, they`ll eventually burn out. If it pours into other threads, ban them temporarily or something.

I agree with you, but at the same time I gotta say that it could be a lot worse - the mods here certainly have the power to delete posts but I've never heard of a deleted post or thread here on this forum. MAMEWorld on the other hand is another story.

bloodf didn't mind pointless threads in the past, but I remember it reaching a point where they were all over the place, to the point of bringing the quality of the forum down and scaring away old-time members. I'm sure he doesn't want the forum to reach that point again. I personally didn't mind that thread, but I can see where the lock came from.

Just as we started to realize there was a bigger network behind this mole, the thread was conveniently locked.

True story, actually, today they moved my office to another building, with really bad condition and it was really poorly handed (I'll protest tomorrow). I suspect that this re-location is the effect of this mole-investigation. Remember how Mulder was moved to a basement. Well, I'll play low-key from now on!
