For some reason, I cannot remember who the red guy is. Who is that?!

I know I'll be like "doh", when someone tells me, but my memory is failing me right now.

If it's the last boss, I don't remember a dome on his head.

Great picture indeed. And I cant tell who the red flying guy is either. I ahve not finished the game yet.

Aren't flying bug and Adjudicator from Demon's Souls ?

Oh right, I was trying to think of enemies. Well, I think that's all of them then? Barely even saw that crystal lizard between the mushrooms.

They fixed the slowdown when using the short-cut ladder in the New Londo Ruins.

Is there any vids of framerate comparisons, pre and post patch? I'd like to see them.

Been having a lot of fun with the PVP now. Mainly playing in dark anor londo again. Getting invaded a bit more than before and haven't seen anyone try anything cheap. Pretty much everyone I've fought bows if it's a 1v1 fight in a common arena as well now.

Also, 35min speedrun by a japanese player(uses a glitch that is still in 1.05): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vd8bCBkKst8

Wow! I was rather enjoying that speed run until the player glitched through having to fight the last cycle of bosses. Skill level was rather impressive, but I would have enjoyed seeing this player beat the game normally.

Now I'm aroud level 55 and still in my first playthrough. I dont have much time to devote to the game as of now, so I just settle in front of bosses doors waiting to be summoned for help (while working, of course !).
This way I had some pretty good jolly co-operation experience. Best ones definitely are when I get summoned by a guy that is NG+ ; beat those Ornstein & Smough nets me an immediate and easy 75k souls, just what I will need to buy shiny twinky titanite !

Best PvP I've had so far has been Free for All (Host vs Darkwraith vs Darkmoon) or 1v1v2 where a darkwraith and darkmoon can ally up if they choose to. Makes for some interesting situations :p

I've actually summoned darkwraiths from red signs to make darkmoons stop hiding many times, hehe.

Currently carrying 3.5 million souls and like 28 humanity, wonder what I'll do if I lose that bloodstain lol.

Anyone had any experience with the Four Kings and Ornstein and Smough, since the new patch?

I used the Crystal Sheild, and Iron Flesh for the Four Kings. And used Iron Flesh to help stand up to their double team, at the beginning of the fight.

So, now that's useless. Have other things helped with these guys, since the patch?

And I used Iron Flesh on the last boss too... Too bad about Iron Flesh...what a waste.

Just beat the Four Kings with my level 1 character. Used Smough's armour, Crest Shield +4 (for their projectiles) and a lightning battle axe +5. Even without iron flesh you don't take much damage from their sword swipes if you're right up against them so it's just a matter of getting close and hacking away, as before.

The Ornstein and Smough fight was harder, I think. Taking out Ornstein is fairly easy if you've got Solaire with you, it's fighting Smough that’s the hard part, especially if, like me, you've leaning on the Crystal Ring Shield. Solaire will certainly die at which point it's just a matter of dodging his attacks and reading his moves - which was probably what the fight was meant to be in the first place.

I've almost finished my level 1 run now so after that I'll go back to my old file and try these bosses on NG++.

Fighting Smough is pretty hard when he uses the electric stomp attack and you wait until it's dissipated and run in to hit him and then you die because it still does damage for a few seconds even after the visuals are totally gone.

Pretty annoyed that I can't get Kirk's armour or Smough's armour unless I take my level 5 to NG+. I'm not sure if I should, but Smough's armour seems really useful for PvP.

Idk, maybe before you upgrade giant's armor to +5 but with buyable twinkling titanite that is trivial. Haven't seen any other reason to use it.. higher poise if you absolutely need it I guess.

Level 5 pvp must involve a lot of dung pie throwing :p shit em' up -> shmup

So, I'd also like to try some PVP now, on the side of the guy that gets invaded of course !

Is making a divine +5 weapon a good idea just for that ? I was thinking about a Uchigatana or washing pole...

I hear occult is better for most cases? and if you have decent stats for the weapon, use a normal +14/+15 and buff it with the darkmoon blade or sunlight blade (assuming yours is a faith build). Using buffs is easier as an invader but still useful when host (use it if you think you'll have trouble with the invader)

Occult better ? Well, I'll just PVP as invader then !

Now what do you mean by "buff it with Darkmoon or Sunlight blade". I understand how to buff weapons with resins, but buff weapons with... weapons ?

They're miracles :p

Darkmoon blade with a high darkmoon covenant rank and high faith seems to be the strongest buff in the game.

edit:
also, invading people in londo ruins while they're trying to summon help for four kings feels good

So, how long do you guys think it'll take to make a follow up to this? It is From Software...so there will be a sequel.

I welcome it with open arms. One of the only new franchises, of this gen, worth it's salt(I'm still heartbroken over how the Valkyria Chronicles games went poof). However...take some time to work on the frame rate, guys! Also, an ending over a minute long, would be nice.

A year at minimum. Prolly two with a major side project in between. They don't want to compete with themselves after all. Now that they have all this exposure and fanbase in the US I wouldn't be surprised to see a new IP from them in the near future. Our thirst will not be slaked with another Tenchu game, after all.

I don't see how a "longer" ending would fit the Souls games way of story telling, especially dark souls. The dark souls endings are pretty interesting once you've figured out more of the story of the world, and why you get surprised by them before you do.

Well, it would just be more satisfying. That's all.

And the story IS interesting, but it's barely shown. You have to read item descriptions to figure it out. Which I did not. I just read a thread on GameFAQs that pieced it together. They could have shown more of that. The game's about gameplay, but this one was more vague than Demon's Souls.

Don't get me wrong, this was a kick ass game. I just was a little taken back by the brevity of the endings.

Alright, I'm hopelessly stuck in Anor Londo, so much so that I haven't put in a real play session in weeks. The double-boss (can't recall names - the big guy & the lightning guy) massacre me. And I can't kill the two giant sentries before the boss reliably enough where I feel comfortable using humanity to summon help. Maybe I should do the Painted World of whomever? I think if I level up my attunement, fireball and chaos orb will probably be enough for the sentries. Also considering making the plunge back to the white spider to up my pyro flame. Blighttown... blegh...

For the guards, I just run past them :). I almost never get hit.

The basic trick is to keep an eye on both of them all the time to know what they're doing. Attack only after both of them have completed an attack. Use the columns to your advantage since they get stuck between them. It helps a lot to have a speedy character with a highly stable shield.

Ornstein and Smough. Ornstein is significantly easier because his lightning damage isn't complete bullshit. It's also possible to get certain items out of both, determined by whoever the final boss of the fight is, so take that into consideration. Summon for this fight. You can summon Sunbro, he's near the archer in the aforementioned area with the two guards. Or you could pretty much just summon people in the Anor Londo house bonfire and do it that way, humanity is pretty easy to come by thanks to the patch.

Same as said earlier : summon. Fatty and buddy and quite easy when two of you are fighting. One of you just lure one of them out of the way while the other of you just kills the other of them.
Also note that they are quite weak to fire, but not to lightning obviously.

If you want to take them alone, then be patient : good shield, focus on one, watch the other, only attack when you get a certain opportunity not to miss. First part of the battle did last for more than 15 minutes in my play. Second part (when there's only one left) is actually easier.
