Bought this sweet ass 27" Trinitron for $40 off craigslist. Looks great. Now I just need to get composite/component/whatever the hell you call the new things these days.

What's better though? S-video or the wires that aren't RYW?

Component (rgb video, rw audio) is better than s-video.

Thats a pretty badass tv for $40. Does it have component and S-video?

Thats awesome! I just got my permanent-tate tv about a week ago, a 20" Phillips, and it has s-video and component as well.

So, my setup is: Saturn through S-vid, ps2 through component, 360 through component.

Its pretty crazy how good those look compared to composite.

go for component over s-video if you can. S-video is good, but you may get some faint artifacts with it.

I'd love to get that Toaplan Shooting Chronicle. I understand it contains audio disks and some superplays on one disk.

Where can you get it from?

You get 5 cds covering 14 games, plus a data disc with all the flyers from each game with interviews, plus a super-play DVD with 3 seperate replays? It's quite reasonable when you break it down as each CD alone would cost around 2,000 each. Consider getting the previous Toaplan set and you lose 9 soundtracks as well as the data disc and DVD and that's assuming you can even find it. Also, the seperate Batsugun soundtrack costs $50 on it's own (versus buying Batsugun for Saturn which has redbook audio and comes with the arrange soundtrack additionally for only slightly more).

If I have one gripe with the set, it would've been nice to have the Skullhornets comic on the data disc - that stuff rocks.

Somebody else "owns" that one though. Good luck w/ that. Seriously, in all of my hunting, I only found one of the books... and of course, bought it. And, one of these days, I'll read it.

I know it's not Toaplan beyond the subject matter and consequently IP ownership but it'd be nice. Otherwise, yeah, it's pretty uncommon - I think was undamned a few years ago who uploaded scans... those were nice despite not being translated.

Well, I've got a few volumes here in Game Hisshou Guide if anyone wants to buy them. Only interested in selling as a set though. I am going to teh America soon, so they can be shipped cheaply. Check my For Salez thread in FS.

For the record, the magazine run only covers half the manga. Gotta get the book for the rest.

I don't think that it's not worth it. I just don't want to drop $100 + on soundtracks.

Bought on a whim and what do you know, apparently The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword comes out today. Whilst I have neither followed it, nor intended to buy it at the full price on day one, I must say I'm tempted...
On a side note, man, is the Mario Kart Wii boxart creepy. I felt uneasy carrying it on my way home. I guess it was the Mario's voice in SM64 (and subsequent games) that rendered those 3D designs so alien to me. DKC is still creepier, surely, but it's not saying much.

it might be best to play skyward sword on a hd tv with component cables. the game has forced widescreen and a lot of flickering in interlaced mode.

but then i heard the wii had terrible vga output, which i believe would be the same as component. i haven't checked this for myself.

Does it run letterboxed on 4:3 TVs (like RE4)? Flickering I can deal with as I keep playing first gen PS2 games regulary (not saying it's excusable in this day and age; even PS2 got some nicely deflickered games in 2001). Meh, on screenshots it doesn't even look all that high tech for a Wii game. Oh dear.
By the way, does the PAL version output 60 Hz? I know Nintendo games usually are well optimised for 50 Hz, but would like to know beforehand.
