I drive to work through a tunnel. There is going to be a toll on this tunnel starting summer of 2012. It is going to cost me $74 a month just to get to fucking work, on top of gas. And the toll is supposed to increase 3.5%/year.

I am hard of hearing with phones. So I know what your talking about.

Virgin called me the other week and some Asian guy talking about rates on telephones, TV channels, internet broadband and so forth was asked 5 fucking times to slow down. He was like a runaway train talking about this package, that package, this tariff, that tariff. I said to him slow down or I'm hanging up. He slowed down a bit in the end.

There's a girl at work who constantly mispronounces her own surname. The name ends with "-ques," which is pronounced as "-kes;" she goes ahead and says, "-kwes." I think only Italian (and Latin) would pronounce it that way, but names that end in "-ques" and "-quez" are usually Hispanic in origin!

"Local mom's $5 anti-wrinkle trick angers Botox doctors." (I wonder if the local mom is also an Area Woman)

"Overstock iPads $30" (reportedly a penny auction site, which is basically just gambling in the guise of an auction)
"Cut a bit of fat from your belly every day by following this one weird old tip"

Lots of questionable things have been advertised ubiquitously on the web (Exhibit A: Bonzi Buddy), but this stuff just seems like outright scamming.

I hate digital TV service providers who automatically deactivate your smart-card if you haven't turned on the fucking TV in a while.
I hate having to call for them for this shit and get my smart-card activated again.
I hate having to call them after that thinking my TV couldn't be switched to another channel and only be turned off by pulling the plug from the wall.
I hate it they couldn't send a mechanic sooner then Thursday evening.
I absolutely hate it that 5 minutes later I noticed I was using the wrong remote and the TV works fine after all.

Because I regularly get in arguments with these people when they get mad at me for passing them in the outside lane, even though it's the lane all traffic is supposed to be in. Plus i find centre lane drives to often be the most unobservant of drivers and often act as lane hogs.

Oh but it get's worse. Here's exactly what the law does:

- Grants police the power to immediately impound your car and suspend your license on the accusation of you committing a relevant infraction. I say accusation because this happens immediately and without and kind of debate. If you are later found to be innocent in court you cannot petition the government for the reimbursement of expenses due to lost work or incurred travel expenses. In other words you could spend a week taking taxis to get to work and spending a great deal of money, be proven innocent and the government just says sorry, but deal with it. If you work as a driver you could lose a week's wages and potentially your job and the government will not give you one red cent back. There is also no appeal process for the suspension. That's aside from the point that it's damn near impossible to prove your innocence for any of these offenses.

The following infractions merit the immediate suspension, impoundment of vehicle (your expense to get out of impound) and carry a minimum fine of $2000, Max $10,000:

- Driving in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit
- Driving with a connected NOS system
- Driving with a person in the trunk
- Performing donuts
- Turning left at a green light if the officer believes you were cutting off the opposing traffic.

This article pretty much sums out how the bill came into being and why it is so stupid. The article is a touch biased, but the fact presented in it are no less true.

I've been trying to go to school, but it's incredibly difficult for me with where I work. I've dropped all of my (online)classes this semester, because I couldn't handle the load (and a bunch of crying and other BS). i'm full of excuses and I hate people. bleh.

I was just using that as an example, but you should get the gist of it. I always make sure to have something else going besides work and staying at home (not that I dislike either place). School is the easiest since I can actually have a set, short-term goal: get an "A" in a class, get a certificate, get a diploma. It's easily laid out: you study, do the homework, get by on the tests, and bam! Ya got a good grade.

I've been thinking, if I were to drop out of the Master's program I'm enrolled in right now, I'd probably volunteer or some s***. Anything just to get me outta the house and see other people. The idea behind this is that if I were to focus my time and energy on helping others, I will forget about feeling bad/sad for myself and probably boost my ego/self-esteem/self-worth, which in turn attracts others to me. Coincidentally, volunteering for such-and-such also looks good on a resume.
