Also, remember the guy who tried to run OSX in QEMU on a 68k era Mac? Yeah, doing this is a bit like that, except there's also the possibility of it actually working at a reasonable rate in this case.
Frameskip skips the part where MAME renders the frames (and also input reading for skipped frames)

In the case of the CaveSH3 driver the MAME rendering consists of 'Copy the bitmap the game rendered to the screen' which takes a fraction of a second, skipping it gets you nothing because the SH3 and blitter are doing all the work, and they can't be skipped.

Same for any primarily framebuffered game in MAME, Killer Instinct is just the same.

I guess playing Quake competitively for more than a decade made me oversensitive to input/output lag :) Almost every game feels unplayable when you get used to 120fps / monitor @ 120hz / mouse 125/500/1000hz.
I could give it a try..... I heard triplebuffer is good when you use fullscreen, anyway it only use more ram isn't? it shouldn't affect performance then.

Games without HLSL feels very washed out and pixelated... it's my opinion :)
As I say, I suspect the issue I have is more with running this mame.exe through mamepgui on win 7.

What just occured to me is that, instead of going through mamepgui, I could have just ran the bloody slowpoke exe from within the mamepgui folder. The ini was already set to enable HLSL, for the... love of god.

You know, despite the evidence to the contrary, I am actually quite intelligent.

Um.
This is what I've been doing. I've generally used MAMEUI32 for the last several years, and I have settings, ctrl files, folders, etc set up that I like to carry forward. If you drop a mame.exe into the main MAMEUI folder and run it, it will pick up the mame.ini and whatever else it recognizes from that.

And what's nice is you can use MAMEUI to configure settings instead of manually editing mame.ini.

Once you get used to using the command-line version it's not so bad. Obviously you can't browse thorugh collections of ROMs, but if you're just running a handful of games you'll remember the names quickly enough. And once it's launched you can always switch to another game from the in-game menus without having to exit and relaunch.
I don't mind the command line version either.

I created a batch file that navigates to the MAME folder and launches the mame64.exe file (or whatever the hell I named it), and from there I can just type in the name of the game that I want to play.

use emuloader, it's basically a command line inside a gui.
that's what I'm using and it makes things so much easier.

i just have batch files setup for most games that i'll want to play. sure i'll probably streamline it later but for now it'll do.
It's about "realizing their actuality." And judging by the look on Jane's face, she's realized it a couple of times already.

Guwange Special Version is good fun. And it is easier than then vanilla Guwange.

Futari BL is fun, but I don't think any of these are actually good for playing seriously because of the missing hardware slowdown. All of them get quite a bit harder than they should be, especially in later levels. They work to determine if you like the games tho, and then you can buy the ports if available

The only part of Futari Black Label that's hard without the slowdown is the level 3 boss. I can easily get through levels 4 and 5 up to the last boss on one life even without the slowdown.

I take it in original? How about Maniac? Also I think Ultra and God are pretty much unplayable without the slowdown.

Also note that I wrote "seriously" which implies for score. I doubt you could score anywhere as efficient and high as you could if they ran at proper speeds.

Well so far im upto 205mill on 1.5 original after a week or so so il see how it goes , personally im from the standpoint of whatever you get used to and i went back to first mushi original which i have on ps2 and cleared it with 40 mill without slowdown my previous port score was 30. However ultra and god are definitely a different story.

Yes, original.

I'm not someone who worries too much about score, so seriously to me just means survival. I'm only concerned with score for the first two levels, and that's just to make sure that I'm in good position to get the extends later on. My goal is the 1cc. It's all for the greater good.

I gave a try to tama and well..... it's not that great of a puzzle..... it's uo poko 2.... anyway this isn't really a cave game, it's made by Jaleco.

I prefer Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo.

Actually it isn't made by Jaleco. Both this and Uo Poko are being created by Cave themselves.

Oops my bad.... only the first game was published by Jaleco, instead of Atlus like the other cave game.

It is asking you if you want the voice to be low, middle or high (from left to right, you have choosen on the pic the kanji for high/big).

I guess this means how high the volume of Recos voice will be ingame.

From my 5 minutes with testing the game the other day i assumed it was some mode selection thing like original/maniac/ultra mode, i mean it is mushihime after all

So should I keep using it? Or should I be using u9 build instead?

Actually nevermind ... just tried the official u9 command-line build and it doesn't work.

Slowpoke it is!

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't even check. That graphic is totally wrong, do you want me to make another video?
Yes please, it's probably the same underlying issue so feel free to add it to the same report.
Right, I've fixed these.

Cool! Is it possible to grab the code now or do I have to wait until 0.144 is released?
Glad it see it was (at least by your comments appeared to be) an easy fix.

The code is always available as long as the git mirrors are up to date. 0.144 should be soon anyway.
