Re: Too close for comfort? the revival?

Post by Siren2011 »

I am currently going through Ibara Kuro withdrawals, and they're harming my social and academic life, so you know that Cave did something right.

A big thanks to everyone involved. These ROMs look incredible on my somewhat seasoned Vaio desktop PC. But I couldn't get into Futari 1.5 at all. It was either skull numbingly boring (Maniac, Original), or so hard it wasn't even enjoyable for me (Ultra). Of course the scoring system appears to be similar to Mushihimesama, but I prefer the scoring of the first game over the sequel.

NOTE: Scratching is fun in Black Label, but I still prefer Psyvariar 2 for that, as well as the original Ibara. It just felt more "Garegga" because you had to die to decrease rank (bombing wouldn't do that :? ), which brought the tension skyrocketing.

Erm, I doubt it? Isn't the problem that the sound isn't emulated yet?
I cant imagine itl be to long given the awesome levels of progression already , after watching muchi pork superplays im almost greatful there isnt sound  . I would love sound solely for futari though.
I was trying to be funny quoting the "it takes forever" but sometimes my jokes are too far-fetched apparently.

Ah gotcha, actually that is funny :)

Without sound it's kind of sucky ... but Mushihimesama already plays far far better than the PS2 port running with pcsx2, that's for sure.

I'll just play some chiptunes in the background, make "pew pew" sounds and random whiny japanese girl noises

I just play the OST's for each game in the background. Toccata and Fugue in D Minor actually started just as I reached Tyrannosatan in Death Smiles.

Get it farther. Take the OS of Mushihime futari and ram it to your head for 5 hours AFTER playing mushihime for 4.

Yesterday I didn't sleep at all...

BUT I WANT IT IN THE ROM...

this is MAME SVN revision 14244 (171011)

both 32-bit and 64-bit builds in there.

The RTC is emulated in this one, so the clocks work in ib backgrounds.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/tpqmzq

this is MAME SVN revision 14257 (191011)

again both 32-bit and 64-bit

There have been some slight optimizations to the SH3/4 core, which give a speed up in some situations that were demanding before, although it's highly conditional on what the SH4 is doing, for the more complex maths parts it's no faster, for some basic operations it's 20-30% faster. If you were borderline (95% ish) on some stuff before it might be worth trying.

I think everybody who was pissed has pritty much said all that was needed to be said. Plus the fact the MAME guys are now handling it, I can put any worries that DFK might suddenly appear as 100%working

But enough of that im looking forward to playing these games same as everybody when they are fully working in a number of months from now :)

Also, general mame question. Is there a way to make it scale with even pixel sizes when using D3D?
I do not care if it is as big as possible, I want that all pixels are scaled the same.

So does this version use the blitter shortcut that causes all the glitched textures and flickering?

No, these are official builds. They're threaded, but done in a safe way. The only build with the glitchy textures and flickering was the one Metallic posted, before proper thread support was added.

Playing Ibara Black Label without sound isn't too bad; making your own sound effects can be fun.

Is "junk" a drugs reference lol...anyway there's no underestimating the power of words to irritate people, so well played all round :D

I tried playing MMP with the OST in the background but somehow it's not quite the same.
On the Russian Demul forum they said that they's succeeded in emulating the Yamaha aac codec to get sound in these but that's not mpeg is it? Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

It was actually (albeit noted after the post was written)! But I didn't know if it would be considered derogatory so I left it for someone to point out. I suppose I deserve a smack! (<--ROFL)

CLRMAMEPro won't detect my roms even if I direct it right to my rom folder.
Not sure if even Ibara Kuro for free is worth this bullcrap.

AAC is part of a MPEG-4 standard. Patent encumbrance won't wear off for a while with this one.

Hey RNGmaster, I had the same problem. Try copying the ROM files to another place (Such as "desktop.") and change MAME's directory accordingly. It worked for me... Good ruck wit dat. And I have no idea why this problem exists in the first place.

Using romcenter. It says that all the files are present, but MAME doesn't recognize futari15_u2 and u4 even though they're clearly there. Strange.

AAC has nothing to do with it. The codec is called AMM and is a Yamaha proprietary format.

That said, we've yet to see if Yamaha use some form of mpeg compression in the codec. If so, forget it.
