What new shows are you watching?
Only new one I've tried is Homeland, and so far it's good.

Anyone tried Terra Nova?

Psych season 6.

I might download and watch Mitsu no Aji, because Miho Kanno is in it. I might watch House, although last season I began to feel that it had "jumped the shark," the first episode of this season where he was in prison had deviated somewhat from the formula.

Totally thought you was referring to Mika Kano and was going to point out how shitty such a show would be w/ her starring in it. Realizing my error I can only point it out that it will be shitty as it's a Japanese drama.

Terra Nova is crap. Persons Of Interest is OK.

For a second I read the title of this thread as "Fail 2011". Given some of the early cancellations, it would probably be appropriate.

I kind of agree that Terra Nova isn't what it should be, but I find myself enjoying it anyways.

Re: Terra Nova

I saw one clip that looked pretty gay. Where the fuck is something a la Battle Star Galactica. For realz, people -- that shit was good. It was kinda gritty and had some hos. I'll admit I need some type of ongoing science fiction but after investing two seasons into V and every awful episode, I really have to raise my standards.

Speaking of V, Homeland shows Anna from V's tits in the first like 5 minutes of episode 1, so already it's better than that bullshit TV show.

I hold no hope for anything like BSG. I think we're lucky that happened at all.

Terra Nova is squarely in the overlap of shit I'll watch that's entertaining enough, while still being SciFi that my wife will watch. She's fairly open minded, but it still has to be something a lot softer than BSG.

I'm marathoning Dexter season 5 so I can watch season 6 as it's unfolding. Don't really have anything else I'm watching.

Most of these TV shows concentrate on family drama in whatever setting its in.

Terra Nova - Family drama with dinosaurs and a few shoot outs
Walking dead - Family drama with zombies
That new alien one - Family drama with aliens.

Not much going on where the military stand is actually the highlight of the show itself.

Terranova
How to make it in America
Hung
Walking Dead
Dexter
Boardwalk Empire
Homeland

Think that's about it for me. Well now that Breaking Bad, Weeds, and the Big C just wrapped up. Thank god for cable shows. I'd watch almost zero TV if I was stuck with just network TV. UGH... sit coms on network TV send shivers down my spine.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Anyone try American Horror Story?

I just purchased it on iTunes so I'd have something to watch on the go. In other words, I'm sure it's terrible.

I read some where (on a TV site no doubt) that it had promise but the pilot shoved in like every horror cliche imaginable. Perhaps not a less is more type of show.

AMC has an "Eastern" show coming up in November, set just after the civil war where an ex-union soldier goes hunting the confederate soldiers that raped and killed his wife. Probably very gritty... and let's face it, AMC is putting out all the quality now.

Breaking Bad is an awesome show. First half of season 4 was dead slow but the climax more than made up for that. ~Skylers ex boss's demise was hilarious.

Terra nova has promise but is sitting in the comfortable zone at the moment. If you take Jurassic Park and mix in a bit of "Lost" I think thats pretty much where its going.

I freaking loved Walking Dead season 1. The second season premiere was a bit disappointing, though. The show seems to work better the fewer characters they have on screen, and this was one of the ensemble episodes. I think I just plain don't really like any of the characters save Rick, the asian kid, and the two white trash racist dudes. Dale in particular really grates my nerves every time he's on screen with that baffled old man good naturedness of his.

I started watching Breaking Bad I think the beginning of season 2? And quit mid-season. The domestic drama portion of the show just kills my interest. It's like Mad Men but with only 2 characters and 1 note to the melody. Is it pretty much that way throughout, or does it get better/refocused? All the praise for it on the internets has re-piqued my curiosity.

Fringe has been rocking it this season, and Dexter seems possibly promising.

Isn't there Caprica or something for BSG fans? Or is that already done?

I still think you're missing the point of the big picture. It's not The Fast and the Furious. It can't go balls to the wall every episode... and if it did, it would ironically be very boring.

The opening monologue was weak but I felt the episode picked up. I thought the whole debacle around the cars was a good display of entrapment.
