Night Striker S(aturn) port quality?
Night Striker S(aturn) port quality?
Thinking of picking this up - could anyone tell me how Ving fared with this Saturn Taito port? Judging by the ones of theirs I own (Metal Black, Bubble Symphony, Liquid Kids and Elevator Action Returns) they were like Taito's Arika back then. I'm wondering about the controls and framerate, mainly. Thanks for any help!

Seems great to me, arcade perfect I believe. Afaik it's superior to the PS version too as it has Saturn only mode with lots of additional stages.
Fun game too, although the quality of the graphics (and the speed) makes it hard to see what's going on half the time. Just play it life Afterburner (wiggle a lot in the middle and shoot) and it's not too tough.

I've got the Saturn version. It's great. It has rock solid 30fps, which is ok since the Sega Scaler games run with 30fps as well (After Burner, Space Harrier). The only thing you shouldn't do is playing the Saturn OutRun version with the 60fps cheat just before - this makes the other games look quite choppy in direct comparison.

There are a couple issues: it seems a lot easier than the arcade version, and the turrets in the tunnels don't aim at you (they just fire straight ahead). The framerate is solid though, and it's a fun game to blast through every now and then. Just don't expect much of a challenge!
EDIT: Also, if you've got the 3d pad, you can move your ship through the ground
I guess it has a wider range of motion than the mission stick
