Re: Prepare yourselves, losers: 2011.07.17
Well it wreaks of cheapness to me (the fly episode). Its like 2 people in a room dragging out a whole episode because they ran out of money or something. It amazes me with the grand scope of things how they could make a whole episode based on a fly.
I just recently watched part of an episode of Malcolm in the middle where the guy playing Walt is being harassed by Bee/Wasp the whole episode.
Is that a coincidence?

Character development. It's about the only time in the series that Walt has showed any remorse... specifically for Jane. My favorite Sopranos episode ever is similar, where Pauly & Christopher get stuck out in the woods for about 80% of the hour.neorichieb1971 wrote:Well it wreaks of cheapness to me (the fly episode). They even mention "Fly" in the examples section of what a bottle episode is. Personally, I felt that "Fly" was a very, very good episode of Breaking Bad. As GaijinPunch mentioned, it's the only time we get to see Walt express any remorse over what happened with Jane and there's a fair amount of added tension, too, as we are made to wonder whether or not Walt will fess up to letting Jane die. The shot of Jesse standing on top of the ladder (that's propped on top of a wheeled counter) while Walt struggles to keep it balanced is just gorgeous.

Well, that was as fucking awesome season. If you don't think so, you should definitely go have your head examined. Any ideas what's in store for the final season? I'd considering blowing Vince Gilligan for a hint. In a sickening way, I'm glad they're not milking it for all it's worth, and I'm excited to see what Gilligan does next.

In the shit IT dept I work in, I'm the only fan of BB. I've mentioned it multiple times and have
been greeted with the following responses: "it's trash, I don't watch trash. btw, True Blood is the best show ever." and "It's unoriginal."
Cool group of guys.... Pinkman is my favorite character. Aaron Pauls acting is phenomenal. S4 E12 he's incredible when confronts Walt.

I'm glad someone revived this thread - I've been thinking about the latest episode all day! I finally got a chance to watch it last night.... I just cant imagine where they're going next with the storyline now that this "chapter" is closed...
Re: Prepare yourselves, losers: 2011.07.17
I'm predicting Season 5 to be the end of it (I haven't read shit either). The stage is set and continuing to
squeeze every possible dollar out of it is nothing more than dragging it through the fucking mud when they
should let it loose on a proper note.... It's an incredible show but it's time to close the book.

Hopefully they'll know when to quit, but if the dollars are stacking up and the ratings really are getting higher every season - as I read they are - I have full faith they'll run it into the ground. Exactly like Prison Break - Which should have ended at the conclusion of season 2.

Yeah -- lots of shows about school teachers who cook meth. Nothing going on about vampires these days."it's trash, I don't watch trash. btw, True Blood is the best show ever." and "It's unoriginal."
This has been confirmed by the producers and AMC, so -- you hit that one on the head. 16 more episodes = 1 season, but they say they may break it up into 8 and 8. You realize he may have had the idea of next season in mind for the end "story" the whole time, right? I've got full faith in the writers of the show. No problems going another 16 episodes here.rapoon wrote:I'm predicting Season 5 to be the end of it (I haven't read shit either).

"I won". I really hope the D.E.A. will close in on the makers of blue glass next season.

My guess is that Hank will be the main protagonist next season, whether he likes it or not. The non-human protagonist is likely to be the cancer. At this point, it's still not a complete story. He's only in remission, and we were reminded this season by his routine trip that it's still lingering.emphatic wrote:"I won". I hate watching shows as they air (I prefer to marathon stuff), but I don't know if I can resist this one. It's gonna be awesome.

So what does everyone think of the first two episodes this season? I think jumped right in and went straight to awesome!

I think the first episode was a little weak, but the second started to feel like traditional Breaking Bad again. I do however have a problem with the plot of the season as a whole. I know the German connection has already been explored in the past, at this point the introduction of them as a villain feels very contrived and forced.

Re: Prepare yourselves, losers: 2012.07.15
Hmm.... I don't think they're really introducing "them" as villains. Remains to be seen, really. The CEO guy wants to make it clear it was a rogue guy in his corporation. We'll see though. I think they're doing a good job of showing that there was way more shit Walt had to consider by getting rid of Gus.njiska wrote:I think the first episode was a little weak, but the second started to feel like traditional Breaking Bad again. I also feel like they're doing a good job of ramping up the whole "Walter White is an asshole" storyline.
Re: Prepare yourselves, losers: 2012.07.15
Walter is undoubtedly getting more evil, but I still feel like this "Gus' Backers" storyline is being introduced a bit quickly and feels more forced than revelations like this were in previous seasons. I was actually hoping as this was the last season that they would focus more on Walter's final spiral, than on outside forces. I mean the poisoning of the kid was a pretty big step for him.gabe wrote:This.GaijinPunch wrote:I think they're doing a good job of showing that there was way more shit Walt had to consider by getting rid of Gus.

"Last season" is quite relative. AFAIK it's an extended season split into two, with close to he usual hiatus. Sounds like two short seasons.

Re: Prepare yourselves, losers: 2012.07.15
I don't remember the Germans in the previous series. Are they related to Gus food chain empire?
The only problem with this show is that the bad guy never wins. I have never seen evil/law breaking people come off better in a film or show. So in my opinion it will automatically end badly. They should explore Walt's evil empire at the top of its game before it comes crashing down again.
Lets face it, everyone wants to see the bad guy win here.

That is true, but from what I understand it's being written as one season. Then again 16 episodes is a lot of time to work with.GaijinPunch wrote:"Last season" is quite relative. AFAIK it's an extended season split into two, with close to he usual hiatus. Sounds like two short seasons.
Hank mentions them a couple of times during Season 4. They are the parent company of Gus' chicken chain and also own a number of companies that supply the chemicals Gus was using to make meth. There was however no indication that they were anything more than a legitimate business that Gus was exploiting his business relationship with, until this season.neorichieb1971 wrote:I don't remember the Germans in the previous series. The bad guy has been winning so far. Make no mistake the entire point of the series has been, "What makes a person go bad?" and so far Walt has been following along that path nicely. Will he win in the end? I actually hope not. He's been doing so well with his powerplays that it would be very satisfying to see him finally fail at a gambit and have his ego shattered.neorichieb1971 wrote:The only problem with this show is that the bad guy never wins. I don't see Walt as bad, really. More *desperate* and caught in a bad situation. The fascinating thing for me about the show is that it's not about a criminal, but someone that dabbles in criminal stuff as a means to an end. The people ending up getting hurt is mostly in for getting hurt anyway.

Brian Cranston said he think the show will end badly for Walt, as basically all the guys that do bad shit get screwed in the end. And he's definitely a bad guy.
