Seibu Kaihatsu/MOSS designers

Post by Zeron »

I was wondering who is their top game designer anyway, we all know about psikyos nakamura, raizings ygw etc but I have never heard about any "top dog" in Seibu, I assume that Raiden,Fighters and ViperPhase1 are designed by the same individual so any names?

showichi yano has had director status for every seibu game since raiden 1
a number of people joined after that, and along with yano made up the RF team (pretty much what the fuck are they doing as Gulti...)

yano has long since retired though, good luck tracking him down

it is still a mystery as to who were the brilliant minds behind WIZ
so long and tanks for all the spacefish
unban shw
<Megalixir> now that i know garegga is faggot central i can disregard it entirely

So who was responsible for Raiden III,IV and KoF SKYSTAGE?

Wait a minute so if GUILTY Is made up by former Seibu Kaihatsu developers, then who the hell is MOSS and why do they own the rights to the Raiden "main" series, did they split into two companies? Hell even by looking at Raiden III and IV arcade posters I still see LICENSED BY SEIBU KAIHATSU im so confused..

now where did you find a raiden iv flyer...

i don't know what exactly moss is made up of but i can imagine they're related to seibu or toaplan somehow; they've been around since the turn of the century, at least. "licensed by seibu kaihatsu" is exactly what it sounds like: seibu gave moss permission to do raiden iii/iv. for skystage, it seems like moss wanted to try a non-raiden, or snk specifically went after them, etc. go(u) sato(u), composer for all raiden related stuff except for the original and rfj (the two guys behind those two titles may as well be forgotten), should be freelance like nearly everyone else. i'm not sure if he had been a moss employee for any period of time.

As far as I understood Seibu Kaihatsu is gone and GUILTY is their "successor" company but yet at the same time a dead company licensing something out does not make any sense and neither does the fact how the hell is Seibu still alive when such a minor dev has not done anything since FIGHTERS JET, but only licenses out this one series..

edit Oh and as far as Raiden IV poster goes sorry, I have just seen the Raiden III one wrote IV by mistake though Raiden IV arcade and 360 websites both say "(C)MOSS LTD ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LICENSED BY SEIBU KAIHATSU INC." GUILTYs Raiden Fighters does aswell, wow http://www.seibu-kaihatsu.co.jp/index.htm Seibu is not dead after all please dont tell me they went pachinko only or some crap

MOSS is a fallback company designed for Seibu employees to retain control of their intellectual property by buying it back after they declared bankruptcy.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

I am sure not how it works for Japan but here in Sweden its quite common for businesses that are indebted ,they let another fellow in the company go and register a new one under his name, now instead of being gutted and stripped off everything, being forced to sell off auction etc everything they first "sell" the rights to their brands to the new company and then declare the old company for bankruptcy which means that the state then moves in covers the entire debt. Same employees hell even location just a different "owner"

Are you saying in royal Sweden the state pays off bankrupt companies' debts on a regular basis? Sounds fantastic even for Sweden, where dogs bark with their arses and all that.
In "normal" countries, states and courts just tell the creditors to go screw themselves. Or so I heard.

Just like SNK Playmore and Irem Software Engineering.

I'm wondering where Takumi's properties went, considering they don't seem to be around anymore and didn't seem to have a fallback company. Maybe to the games' original arcade publishers (Giga Wing 1 & 2 to Capcom, Giga Wing Generations & Twin Cobra 2 to Taito)?
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Haha no.
Well, I don't know exactly how it works in Sweden, but I'm assuming it's roughly the same as here.
A curator is appointed to take responsibility over the assets in the bankrupt company, while the employees (who are always given top priority) are covered by the state which will pay any salary they are entitled to by law (usually three months worth).
The curator then proceeds to auction off the assets in order to pay the other creditors of the company. If there's not enough money to pay them all, it's simply "too bad". The state won't pay this.
Of course it depends on the type of company - in a stock corporation, no one is responsible to pay off the debt, though the company stocks obviously lose their value.

It's very normal in just about every company to have operations in one company, ip in another and assets in another.

That way if the any part of the business fails - or just as commonly, get's sued/similar legal trouble - then as much as possible is kept insulated.

Similarly it often helps to have different 'owners' - hence proliferation of CEOs...

There are of course specific arguments where a plantiff or creditor may claim against more than one branch of an organisation, but it's often more difficult to make your case in such situations - which usually revolve around proving direct intent/responsibility.

Typically, the public/umbrella name will be the nominal brand, but there are situations where this isn't necessarily beneficial; either brand recognition or legal distances.

It's a murky world...
