Awesome Alternative to PCBS for Jamma Cabinets
For those interested in hooking up your Ps2 or Xbox in a Jamma Arcade cabinet you can now do so for less then $150 bucks. These are never in stock and are finally back in I ordered myself a set.
Use your large catalogue of Ps2 / Ps1 / and Xbox shmups (Even more when its modded)
Go here to the Official Jpac site and order the Xbox and Ps2 Controllers adapters and a Jpac
Here is a direct link:
http://www.ultimarc.com/console.html
Also the new FBA XXX for Xbox supports TATE / Vert monitors
Thought maybe some members would like to play some of their better titles on a Cab the way they were meant to be played and save a little dough while they are at it.
Peace out!!!!

I don't think they've thought this through.
On the arcade video connector it says specifically that the connection is meant for 15khz monitors only but the Xbox and PS2 only output a higher a resolution and are incapable of outputting a res in the 15k range to display properly on a standard arcade cab monitor.

They can both output RGB at 15khz just fine.Kron wrote:I don't think they've thought this through.

Be aware that the xbox adapter doesn't support the triggers at all, so it means you have to drag out a seperate controller to use any menu features, in-game reset stuff etc on the xbox.
The PSX adapters button mappings are...odd to say the least. I'm also having a new one sent to me because mine was acting all weird. Hopefully it fixes the issues I was having with ESPGaluda and DDP:DOJ. I'll see when I get the new one.

I got on line today looking exactly for something like this!
*PSX to arcade monitor adapter*
How does it look? is the video amp apropriate? Does is look as bright as an arcade game?
Would mods to other consoles give the same results (does the PSX output the same brightness as, say, a genesis or SNES)?
I'd buy one of those and then make my own controls out of cheap controllers and skip the J-pac.

You can just as easily make your own psx/ps2 to arcade monitor cable, by hacking a scart plug and make your own LM1881 circuit...its easy if you know how to solder. I've done this on my dedicated PS2 cab (as well as hacked my own pads). Here is the circuit:dpful wrote:I got on line today looking exactly for something like this!

Of course if you aren't the electronics type, buying the ultimarc thing is probably a safer bet. The MGCD has some minor issues with a std jamma harness that I elaborated on in the hardware thread, so it would be a 3rd option in my opinion.
Didn't notice this thread before, moved to Hardware.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I don't think a video amp is completely necessary...at least I don't use one with my PS2->arcade setup. Maybe it depends on the monitor. One note, if you use the DC-VGA box hacked to 15khz, you cannot use a video amp (like jpac) as the signal will get overloaded and turn white.dpful wrote: I'm mostly interested in the video amp
Just wanted to follow up here.zakk wrote:Be aware that the xbox adapter doesn't support the triggers at all, so it means you have to drag out a seperate controller to use any menu features, in-game reset stuff etc on the xbox.

I finally (after receiving an xbox adapter by mistake!) received my replacement PSX adapter from Andy. Looks like he has the enclosure for them now too. Anyways, this one works much better than the one I had before. Works great in Galuda and DOJ, which the other one was unuseable with. Again, my only minor issue is with the button mappings; mostly because the xbox and psx adapters are 'mismatched' as far as button positions go. (X on the PSX and A on the xbox are not mapped to the same button, so if you switch between them stuff like menu navigation changes)
edit: It doesn't work with any psx/ps2-><other console> adapters I have. Then again, neither does any other solution I have other than a hacked psone pad.
