ps1 pad variants for hacking

Post by grobda »

got 2 ps1 pads to hack to a jamma adaptor today. one was easy to hack the other was harder.

theyre both sony branded scph-1080.

one was made in malaysia. i had to scrape away at the pcb traces to solder leads onto them. pcb had no markings, encoder chip was motorola. no letter on back of pad.

one was made in china.it had a 'H' on the back to the right of where it says 'sony computer entertainment inc.' the pcb inside is marked 'hosiden' it had small copper pads to solder leads on to and the pads were labelled. much more hack friendly saved me at least TEN minutes.

i've looked at my other pads out of curiosity and found an 'M' on a different made in china pad, this didnt have solder pads either, pcb unmarked, chip was mitsumi brand.

just a heads up if anyones doing the same. cash converters had loads of em at £2 each so maybe worth checking (thats if the outer case matches whats inside every time).

right off to play raiden DX :D
