Why would anyone want that?

Because after dropping your chain for the thousandth time and resetting the level yet again you will be thoroughly sick of hearing the BL one and this gives you the option of mixing it up a bit.
1.5 soundtrack is indeed a little meh, although the boss music and the stage 4 track are both pretty good IMO

I dunno why this is so confusing and surprising to people, as it was like this in MMP/PS, and I feel like even in one of the games before that...maybe Galuda2? Either way I'm happy to have the option, though I can't see myself turning off the BL soundtrack ever :P

Galuda 2 had an option to use Arrange music across all of the modes or Original music, but not individual tracks.

For those living in Australia, GAME now have it on their servers.
http://www.game.com.au/dodonpachi-ressu ... 360/110529

The not-having-a-cover is exactly like how they did Deathsmiles, basically they'll get it in to your local store IF you Pre-Order it so they know exactly how much of it they have to ship to the store otherwise they won't have any in stock. Speaking of which it's about $15 cheaper than Deathsmiles was here. :P

At this point, what's the cheapest/safest preorder option for North America?

I was gonna wait for Zavvi to put it up but I'm not so sure I want to give them my money anymore, after reading about the Xenoblade fiasco.

November 4th it is! Rising Star just came into the MCV office (where my desk at Develop magazine is based) and showed us the game, which basically involved me playing it (badly) while my colleagues patiently waited to start a proper meeting.

Certainly, as far as I can tell, 1.5 is identical slowdown-wise to the JPN 360 release.

I already have the Japanese version, and I do not think RSG will make the graphics scaling/filtering any better. Would be nice tho.
I have no clue what Cave are smoking to have such shit scaling options, especially when the stuff M2 gave them was perfect.

To see what a total joke the scaling is set your 360 res to 640x480, run DFK, and tate it. You would think that 100% should now fill the screen, as the game runs at 640x480. But this is not the case, you have to scale it up to 150%. Seriously Cave, wtf.

And the scaling in Akai Katana is even more horrible (beyond horrid actually)

The games are still fun, but the scaling stuff hurts me on a special level, what with being an artist myself.
Also I would really liked if DFK had a lores arcade mode option, like older games. I find the halfarsed upscale job rather distasteful I have to say :/ But again, nothing that jumps out too much while playing. Still. How Cave treats their games graphically shows that they either have little respect for their art assets or that they just do not give a fuck.

However, I'm most interested in the "fully-featured Triangle mode for boosting your high score and getting past tough bosses".

Hmm, November 4.....Australia gets it 26 days later.

And exactly as I suspected GAME still hasn't gotten any information or details on their website for it other than it exists and they want $50 for it. It seems marketing shmups competently in Australia just doesn't happen.

That said, preordered. Looking forward to trying this. ;)

Goddamn shopto.net is a pain in the ass.
I can't seem to register for anything (US here)

Thehut is also giving me hell for attempting to use paypal.
Also that site having the same format as zavvi is setting off warning bells.

Probably better off just dropping the whole thing and waiting for a good deal on ebay.

Shipping to the U.S. is £4.99, so it's almost 30 total, which is $47.14.

The German Amazon has this game for 39.20 Euros total (including shipping), which is almost $54.

I ordered from gameplay.co.uk 8)

Before I buy this,

The DLC is not going to work if I have my account here in the US? If I make a PAL gamertag on my US console and buy PAL points I can buy the DLC, right?

Hopefully the DLC can be accessed without having to create a new account.
IIRC most retail 360 games have a menu where you can jump straight to the DLC shop when you put the disc in.

Futari worked that way didn't it? Don't see why DDP:R should be any different.
