....I've managed a 1cc of Metal Slug. Yeah, I know it's an old game. I first played it back in 2006 (again, I know I'm late) and I was horrible at it. I'm talking 20+ continues. A few weeks ago, after watching some videos of it on youtube, I decided to give it a go. After much frustration over the bridge in the final level, I got lucky and got a bunch of shotguns and managed to keep the tank until the last boss. I actually had a no miss going until I lost the tank. I tried to get a screen shot of it, but due to my dual monitor setup, it got a screen of the other monitor(my tv)
Oh well, it feels good anyway. This makes it my third 1cc after Perfect Cherry Blossom and Cho Ren Sha. It's good to have that monkey off by back. I wonder what I'll try next.
Mad props. I've been able to 1CC Contra and Super Contra, but Metal Slug has spots that feel harder to me than those two other games. If you can repeat your achievement, I suggest you keep a small camera close by or use your cell if it's photo-enabled.

Thanks for the congrats.
I wish I had thought of that. My cell phone actually takes pretty clear pictures.
As for the game, missions 1-5 are pretty easy once you get acquainted with the stage layout. You can also abuse the game engine somewhat. Most enemies don't start firing until a certain percentage of their sprite is onscreen, so you can inch closer and closer until your shots are hitting them and you can kill them before they can fire back. This is especially helpful in missions 4 and 5. The worst part for me is the bridge in the final mission. If you're really lucky, you can get the shotgun, and that makes the tanks a lot easier to take care of. The sub is pretty easy too. If you can take only one hit at most and keep the tank until the final boss, then you should be okay as long as you don't make any huge mistakes.
for the screenshot I have a dual screen too and to make one I just press "print screen",open paint, control+v(paste),then you should have a giant pic of both screens.
Then crop pic and/or reduce it as you want.
It's funny that this topic comes up; I happened to have finally succeeded in 1CC Metal Slug last week too (on diff level 6); I've been trying on and off since 2001 but decided to get serious at it in the last couple of months.
I'm on Metal Slug X now; I feel underwelmed; The level design and difficultty ramp are way better on 1. I can't seem to get into X for that matter. I miss the 3s invicibilty trick that you get everytimes you jump off the tank in 1.
Aguraki: I tried that, and that's what I expected to happen. Unfortunately, I just got a screen of the Windows 7 desktop and nothing else, and I had already closed MAME.
yojo!: I've been playing around with X a little bit, but I'm not sure I want to make it my next 1cc since I like to move around. I do enjoy the game, but some of the levels seem to be a little more drawn out than necessary.
