i thought if he were 16 or something there could have been hope.
I was going to cut the guy some slack, I thought maybe he was just a kid, but I guess not.
My thoughts exactly. Back when I was twelve, and I was first dabbling in making games on my then-brandnew Amiga, my results did look somewhat similar. Come to think of it, my first tries making music with MED even sounded a bit like that Thera tune, only that my "songs" had a lot more drums in them.
Wow... as much as I talk about the unique charms of developer art, I'm looking directly at the threshold of where that all falls apart. O_o
The truly garish homegrown exterior aside, I don't see that much different from similar, humble first stabs at making a game like this. *shrug* If it were the same thing with simple colored shapes or something, I doubt it would've drawn as much ire. Perhaps a less than courteous "try harder" or two; but still. TBH though, the Kickstarter part of the equation does baffle me... as well as puncture any pretense of humility I can project onto the game.
Yeah it is, it's basically raiden fighters 2 with like 20 different ships ripped straight from different shmups, for example:
Miyamoto from Dimahoo
Michael from Gokujyou Parodius
Some actual Raiden Fighters ships
loads of others
It also has specific technical bonuses on bosses, but not like in strikers. You have to draw the direct fire a boss fires away from buildings and stuff like that for bonuses
