I was wondering if anyone knows about when the rank actually increases.
I know it maxes out at 70k (something I am very far from), but I was wondering if there are precise steps at which the rank jacks up or if it is gradual, which it does not seem to be tho.

To my knowledge it's all gradual from 0 to 69,999 - if there are steps, they're small incremental enough to not really be noticable. At 70k exactly, however, it jumps up massively compared to 69,999 and earlier, and won't increase any further beyond that speed.
