Japan is my #1 choice (if I had a choice...). I imagine it's tough to get over there without starting off as an ESL teacher (we talked a bit about this)
I work at a Swedish company and the #1 thing the Swedes I work w/ (doing 1/yr contracts here) keep telling me to prepare for is the radical change in weather.
I'll say this much dude, the age old mantra "it's all about who you know" worked for me. I would have never known about this position had I not helped and
developed a friendship with a VP. Making the transition from Finance to IT was an eyeopener. Amazed me how curt and condescending a lot of my team members
were/are towards ppl they didn't even know. A little professionalism and humor goes a long ways. I'm rambling. I hope everything pans out, but it looks like I won't
know the final decision until another month or so now... :(
Oh, man. Getting in good w/ the boss is never bad. Don't brown nose your way to your career, but befriending people you normally wouldn't be friends w/ outside of work is a good practicel. I mean, you have to spend so much time together, you might as well have some allies.
