Re: The future of Cave
You're absolutely right, but citing Braid as an example is itself "braindead". I'd like to see you find all the stars and get all the achievements in that game without a guide/faq.
Re: The future of Cave
Yeah Braid is a pretty dumb example of a "braindead" game...

Re: The future of Cave
i'm sorry but braid is in fact the dumbest shit i have encountered so far.
it requires nothing besides the will to play it because you CANNOT die (time rewind lol).
you just collect shit all day long and it bores the fuck out of me after 30 seconds... the enemies are dumb and pointless because you (again) CANNOT die.
And collecting stars and achievements sounds so much fun. oh well it actually does not. I'd like to see anyone collect all stars, powerups and coins in Mario Bros. In contrast to braid however collecting things in Mario helps you to get through that game. In braid it's pointless because (yes again) you CANNOT die...
well braid is basically invincible super mario bros 1 collect-a-thon for the NES. it requires nothing. dumb shit if you ask me.... hey and mario is even able to run and there are more enemies than gumbas...
EDIT: Braid is in fact A PERFECT EXAMPLE for easy shit games made for retards nowadays

Re: The future of Cave
Yeah, fuck that collecting bullshit. Shit like that is a big reason why I only play arcade-style games these days.

I think you dont understand this game.ancestral-knowledge wrote:i'm sorry but braid is in fact the dumbest shit i have encountered so far.

it requires nothing besides the will to play it because its cheap and you die after 1 hit (hitbox doesnt match the ship lol)
you just shoot shit all day long and it bores the fuck out of me after 30 seconds... the enemies are dumb and pointless because they die so easily
And gaining score and chips sounds so much fun. oh well it actually does not. I'd like to see anyone collect all stars, powerups and coins in Mario Bros. In contrast to ketsui however collecting things in mario helps you get through that game. In ketsui score is pointless because when you run out of lives it resets!..
well ketsui is bassically super mario bros 1 score - a thon for arcade. it requires nothing. dumb shit if oyu ask me... hey and mario is even able to fly with a cape and their are more enemies then goombas...
(btw i actually really like ketsui its lots of fun and has some of the best patterns ive ever seen)

Re: The future of Cave
He just admitted to us that he only played it for 30 seconds. Also, collecting the stars is about solving quite probably the most fiendish puzzles ever seen in a video game, it isn't just about "collecting things".
Sorry ancestral-knowledge but you're just coming across as the bigest dick yet to post on this forum. And trust me, that is quite some achievement.

The point is you completely missed the point of braid and i don't even like that game that much.

Re: The future of Cave
tell me then what is the POINT of playing braid that is different from watching a movie?
Re: The future of Cave
Somebody else can answer your drivel. I won't be wasting my time.
Re: The future of Cave
Whatever dude just keep pretending that mainstream collecting puzzles shit is good.
Re: The future of Cave
Braid requires you to use your brain to pass a stage. It's not the dumbed down puzzle gameplay you see in most other titles. In fact Braid requires you to use your brain in ways I have never before used it in a video game. I commend it for that.ancestral-knowledge wrote:i'm sorry but braid is in fact the dumbest shit i have encountered so far.

Beating a shoot'em up however, a genre where you'll normally die a lot unless you're being extremely careful, usually requires you to turn your brain off. Even with the convoluted score system of newer shmups, the correct way to go is usually to train the system until you're able to act out of reflexes alone.
Before continuing this, tell me how much did you actually play of Braid?

Re: The future of Cave
about 45 minutes i think...
Re: The future of Cave
Yeah, tell me a few scores you got using those methods. I'd like a good laugh. Maybe a casual like you doesn't get it when you're credit feeding or however the fuck you play but if you want high scores hell yeah these games are very mentally draining and require your undivided attention during an intense session. There's nothing intelligent about a game with puzzles that basically force you to pull out a guide. That's just annoying bullshit.Sumez wrote: Beating a shoot'em up however, a genre where you'll normally die a lot unless you're being extremely careful, usually requires you to turn your brain off. Haters gonna hate.

I have no idea what this thread is about. Judging by the last few posts, the future of Cave is some game called Braid. Sounds hot!

Different games have different appeal. Whoopiedoo.
That's it. I'm freakin' pissed. Time to make you pay.
How to write Guess the Number on your TI-82/83 model calculator:
0->A
0->B
0->C
100 * rand + 1 -> B
WHILE A =/= B
Print(Guess the number! (1-100)
Print(
Input A
C + 1 -> C
IF A > B: Print(Too high!
IF A < B: Print(Too low!
LOOP
Print(You got it! It took you
Print(C
IF C = 1: Print(try
IF C > 1: Print(tries

This is from memory so things might be off a little, like the random number generator. Also everything would be in ALL CAPS.
I really envy those simpler times. I've once burned an entire month forming up a DirectShow engine. So much work, so little return..

Nah, there hasn't been any widespread Nietzsche quotes or calling of each other "retards" directly. Let'sa keep it that way.bcass wrote:Sorry ancestral-knowledge but you're just coming across as the bigest dick yet to post on this forum. And trust me, that is quite some achievement.

PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.
Re: The future of Cave
Anyone who thinks Braid is mainstream is just displaying a spectacular amount of pig-ignorance.

What programming language doesn't even bother with closed parenthesis.

A game like Braid is so different from a shoot'em up that you can never compare them directly. Saying Braid doesn't require brains because you can't die is so dumb I can't take it seriously. It's simply not that kind of game.
No matter how long you take at solving a Rubik's cube, you won't ever actually "fail" or "die" in the process, so with your logic, solving a Rubik's cube doesn't take brains either?

Everything Basic.kernow wrote:What programming language doesn't even bother with closed parenthesis.
Re: The future of Cave
I don't think that applies to any of the UK home micros (Spectrum, BBC, etc).
Re: The future of Cave
Mod please. Can someone lock this crap.
Re: The future of Cave
Seriously? I had heard that Braid was a pretty ez puzzle game so I decided to seek out the solutions.bcass wrote:Also, collecting the stars is about solving quite probably the most fiendish puzzles ever seen in a video game.

None of this looks anything close to "fiendish". Maybe "fucking annoying" is more like it. Wait 2 hours for a fucking cloud to float by? Holy shit. To claim they're the most difficult puzzles to ever appear in ANY videogame, ever. Lolo on the NES had more difficult puzzles than this, FFS. (And there were about a billion more ways you could fuck up/die in that one)
Re: The future of Cave
Yeah, because watching solutions to puzzles is really going to help you appreciate how difficult it is to solve those puzzles. Seriously, I can't remember the last time I saw such a brainless post. What is it with all the dunces crawling out of the woodwork today? Is it a full moon or something?Udderdude wrote:Seriously? This thread is terribad
Re: The future of Cave
Yeah! Only the smartest of the smart would waste 2 fucking hours waiting for a cloud to move. What a way to use your brain!
Re: The future of Cave
I'd rather do that (or watch paint dry even) than read your brainless drivel.
Re: The future of Cave
Those stars don't really count for anything. The deal with them is that it's nearly impossible to even know of their existence unless you have an idea where to look. All of them have some really awkward trick to getting them, which usually ranges from annoying to sort of cool (sort of like sequence breaking in Metroid), but it's definitely not representative of the game itself. Go play the game before you continue commenting on how it works.
The actual ingame puzzles is where it's at.
