Viewpoint

Post by Mero »

This is the high score thread for Viewpoint, Aicom/Sammy's classic isometric shooter from 1992.

No continues. All defaults: Lives 3, normal difficulty, extends at 50k and 80k. Autofire is ok.

If you're playing the AES or Neo Geo CD versions of the game you must play on MVS difficulty. I'll open tables for the various ports of this game if there's any demand for it.

Hmmm, should we also allow the Genesis version either? If it does, I might post a score later.

Actual WR is 5,459,370 pts but is played with autofire. In this game autofire change the gameplay / pattern totally, especially for Nazo bonus, because obtain nazo become more easy. So is necessary split the scoreboard with "autofire on" and "autofire off".

With autofire on is possible obtain all 14 nazo bonus, but without autofire is impossible. I working on a plan to win at least 12 nazo.

work in progress.

ALL, No Miss, without autofire, Remaining 6 (Is soon to try sacrifice lives).

Nazo x 6, 81560 x 21, 1up x 2.

Stars x 4 miss and Nazo x 5 miss (for now I use a pattern with max 11 Nazo, 12 is too difficult for me now).

Genesis version

Image

Perikles - 1,210,990 - ALL - NO (doesn't matter in this version at all, though, see below)

Had a lot more fun than I thought I would! Isometric games are not my forte at all, so this was a very pleasant surprise. This port is really easy due to the ludicrous extend rate; I probably died ten times at the final boss, but I got an extra life every time for destroying the first form. You could counterstop this particular conversion if you really wanted too. I'll definitely snag myself a copy of the PS1 version at some point in time, I don't get the hate for this game at all - and I played a much simplified version of it. It almost has an Irem flair to it as far as the memorisation is concerned, which I really like. :)

Edit: Looks like the other host I used is out of business, added a working picture.

I haven't played it since the 90's but the PS1 version is infamously terrible, only get it if you can find it dirt cheap.

AES version played on MVS Difficulty with a stock Neo Geo joystick.

Kiken - 1850550 - ALL - NO

It was a sloppy run, but I'll take my first All Clear of this game.
