Japanese STG websites

Post by Aliquantic »

A very quick question, are there forums like this one in the Japanese STG community, or any other big hub that's not based on 2ch or Nico? I couldn't find much else other than a few wiki and such, some of them pretty informative, but it looked pretty diluted from what I could see... but I'm sure I missed a lot of things, so please share any link you may have :)

Maybe not what you're looking for and you're probably already aware of it, but livetube/STG is a great streaming site, some really good players on there.

Japanese are afraid of clean web design, easy navigation, and archivable forums. You're stuck w/ small BBS' and 2ch by and large. Even the legendary Danmakugata had remarkably low forum traffic considering it was the hub of shooting game news.

I did know about Livetube but yes, it's an excellent one and I should have mentioned it :) And damn, I knew the Japanese lived... some time in the past as far as Internet websites go, but that's worse than I was expecting :| Thanks GP!

They adopt internet trends like they do international laws and standards. Now you know why it is impossible for them to unfuck themselves.

It would be great if the Japanese could move on to modern websites that the rest of the world is using, it would make the flow of info from east to west so much better. When Doujin suki the only english doujin stopped updating was when I lost alot of my interest in the doujin scene.

Kudos to Elixir and all the guys who can read Japanese and take the time to keep us in the know, I can only imagine just how much a time sink it is to have to read through all that crap  no wonder Elixir used to get crabby with folk on this forum for what he thought was shit posts / threads

If you get a 2ch browser then navigating 2ch isn't much worse than anything would be at that size and it's easier to follow the threads you're interested in. I use one that's a Chrome extension so I don't have to have another program open. Maybe you do this already though.

The only problem then is finding something that's actually worth reading. I don't have a problem with the web design so much as I do the fact that when you get past it no one much says anything interesting (at least where STGs are concerned) anyway. I get news from twitter and blogs, mostly watch videos with commentary or search out individual sites for strategy, and leave any discussion for here.

From what I've seen on 2ch I'm not very impressed either, yeah :P Are there any particularly interesting blogs you follow? I only know of a handful that are seldom updated :|

Not any particularly interesting blogs to be honest, mostly doujin developer blogs and that kind of thing. I guess the lack of stuff online is partly because they have arcades to go to.
