Didn't really catch on for me.
Acid Techno maybe?Btw, does anyone have an idea what genre this song is? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww0zVxbOk0A
Just a shot in the dark, I've honestly not much of a clue.

I always figured the opposite, that folks who play video games have a natural lean towards electronic music and therefore dance music would be kind of a natural interest.drauch wrote: Agreed. It's odd how it became so prevalent, but there is good stuff out there. Obviously people on this forum hate dance music, though; but, yeah, it is a shmups forum, so whatevs.

You know that this Dan Curtin track was essentially remixed by Manabu Namiki for Battle Garegga?

I like the comments stating it's good background music. Like lift musicSkykid wrote:Personally, I think Dubstep is totally dull and I hate the way I can't find anything else at the moment, but I'm not going to persecute the people who are driven by it - I'm just going to stare at you funny and wonder what you're thinking.
Lol, that's not what I meant you cheeky git.cools wrote: Absolutely tons of music around though! Surprised you can't find anything.

I did last week. It was loud and dreadful, and dreadfully loud.Exe wrote:Dubstep had it's golden age 5 (!!!) years ago, most of the stuff released now just doesn't work for home listening, as you need huge soundsystems to get the real expierence.
In a club, it's awesome if you feel the pressure those basslines are creating, give it a try

I was out last night and was treated to the usual Friday night eyeful of girls with legs up to their eyeballs, inadvertent crotch and ass flashing and cleavages on parade.xbl0x180 wrote:Going to dance clubs to... pay attention to the music and to dance... I thought you were dudes/blokes![]()

Not everyone on this forum hates dance or electronic music. 90% of my vast music collection is made up of it, Digitally Imported is my favorite streaming radio service, BBC Radio 1 on Friday and Saturday evenings is the best thing ever, and I'm always on the look-out for fresh originals and remixes to check out.drauch wrote:Obviously people on this forum hate dance music, though; but, yeah, it is a shmups forum, so whatevs.

It is kind of cold and inhuman, but I find that to be part of the charm. They do have a few odd "warmer" tracks, though, like this one:Icarus wrote:Autechre leaves me cold, however. Way too weird for my liking.
The KLF track is a classic indeed. I've always preferred the PVD remix of Take A Free Fall though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMnywXWL ... re=relatedBlackbird wrote:Heard some enthusiasm for the older trance sound, so here are a few more tracks that you may enjoy =D.

Is that even a woman? Looks kind of manly to me. Give it a greasepaint mustache and she'd/he'd be the missing Marx Brother (especially with the fake brows).xbl0x180 wrote:Going to dance clubs to... pay attention to the music and to dance... I thought you were dudes/blokes![]()
At clubs and other public venues, I don't give a damn about the music as long as there's a high ratio of attractive girls to everything else. In some areas, when the average chick looks like this:
I can't afford to be picky about the music
I agree, I guess im getting old and stuck in my waysemphatic wrote:I was waiting for someone to mention trance. Many, many, many times have I read the "I used to love trance but...". Me, I used to love House music (started to listen to it back in 1986), but trance is my thing because I love melodies and the detuned synths. It often feels like Trance is the genre in dance music that everyone loves to bash, calling it cheesy etc. There are cheesy tracks in ALL genres, rock, pop, hell even Jazz. I listen to almost every genre out there, but I only listen to the stuff I consider good. Just hating on a whole genre because you're uninformed of the good stuff is lazy. There are talents out there among all the copyists. Also, time is against you as a creative artist, most cool stuff in music has already been done. When I listen to dubstep (not very often, the odd remix of artists I know and care about) I feel that there's brand new stuff there I haven't heard before.
These kind of arguments piss me off to no end! Not everyone, and certainly not their retarded brother has the knowledge to make ANY music. Like if I told some dude off the street 'ya man you just play with resetting LFO's and multi channel basslines' and they would be like 'oh, thats all it is?' Come on dude! Making any kind of music involves some knowledge, especially if it involves manipulation of complicated software or the ability to play an instrument. Also, even if anybody can make a dubstep or 'insert-genre-you-don't-like-here', obviously not everyone can make a good dubstep track or peeps wouldn't be constantly whining about how shit it all is, right?Siren2011 wrote:Hey, I can make those noises too. With my farts.
But does that make me an artist? I'm willing to wager "no."
The best part is, all these sad excuses for musicians actually think they're working hard. Everyone and their retarded brother can make a "dubstep" tune, just like everyone can play the harmonica like a champion, regardless of experience with the instrument.
It's a cheap and easy fad. What the Wii was to videogames, dubstep is to music. I'll give it another year or two before it goes the way of the trilobite and Clay Aiken.
Autechre dont just make music for me they make entire environments i love them ,on the flip side of the spectrum in the world of minimalism i love SND to who are almost the absolute opposite of autechre and toured with them last year . Dubstep started off really well tbh almost 10 years ago and has literally followed the exact fate garage did as soon as it gained notoriety out came the gimmick which in this case is wobble basslines its beyond a joke! So il share 2 Dubstep artists that are superb and nothing like the gimmick wobble bullshit . As always its a case of digging through the shit to find the good .Blackbird wrote:It is kind of cold and inhuman, but I find that to be part of the charm. Great avatar btw.Mero wrote:As others have said, the trouble with dubstep is that it's ridiculously slow. If it was any slower it'd stop altogether.
All I mostly listen to nowadays is my old tapes from 92-95(yes I've still got them). Drum & bass and happy hardcore both pretty much went down the toilet in the second half of the last decade, Scouse house and bassline house were ok for a while but they've died off now. Most current stuff just doesn't cut it for me.
