I played this before and decided to play this again for a single credit, but how does medal scoring works? Presumably I think it depends on how close you are to the medals, but there are other answers.

You have to collect the medals at the top of the screen for 10k each, the value decreases the further they are down the screen. Once they get past about halfway down they're only worth 200.
