Suggestions for my final 1cc.

Post by Damocles »

I started in June of 2003 playing these quirky little games of dodging flourescent bullets. In August or September of that year, I finally bested Battle Bakraid, starting this whole tirade. Around twenty-five or so, I decided that I would take a break at fifty, and focus solely, and leisurely, on quality games. Up to this point, nothing that I've bested has even bordered on the upper echelons of challenge, which is a thorn in my side. I've beat crap (read: God Panic), I've beat the epitome of shmupping (for me, Shiki 2), and now I want to take a break. But not without something significant falling. I never got around to Cave, and I never really got around to Psikyo. I also never got around to many classics, such as Gradius. ...and no, I don't play for score.

So, suggestions? I was thinking of perhaps going back to the beginning of manics with Donpachi, or the roots of Psikyo with Aero Fighters. Last time I checked, I needed one or two (Sonic Wings Special Time Attack can kiss my ass, btw...no way does that count).

Oh, and if anyone mentions R-Type...........

Why take a break? Well if you must, 1CC either Pulstar or DoDonPachi.

Actually, I'm taking a long break from shmups and video games...although it wasen't really planned or forced.

How about Gradius III arcade? That would be fairly significant...

Radiant Silvergun - Saturn mode. The be-all, end-all of 1CCs. Those that can do this epic of epic feats deserve their pedestal. False gods need not apply.

Finish both loops of donpachi all clear-no miss. No one has been able to do it so far. Since this is your last 1cc, you are just the person to do it.

I think this is the most challenging.

Gradius III is just unforgivable.

i've never had the privelege of playing Radiant Silvergun, but from what i've heard from a good friend of mine:

"Radiant Silvergun... one of those games where, after you beat it, you want to turn the TV off, go outside, light up a cigarette and watch the grass grow."

i'd say, if you're really taking a break from shmupping, go out in style (assuming you have the budget) and get Radiant. from everything i've read about it, to everything i've heard from people who've actually played the game, it's truly epic.

Donpachi is now dead. First run of the night, at 4:30am, and running off of 3 hours sleep. Zanac Neo also fell tonight. If I ever start back up again, I suppose I'll still have that no-miss, no-bomb run to look forward to.

If you are that good, would you please do Gunbird 2 both loops? And record it? I'm still dying to see someone do this.

I've got the Triple Lei replay video of him beating Gunbird 2, but it's the first loop.

I've got the first loop video from Triple Lei as well. It's that 2nd loop that is pretty much unfathomable. I've seen the big 600 meg video of some guy messing around with Alucard in the 2nd loop, but he does a bunch of level selects. I'd like to see one clean run from start to finish.

No clear miss? Hell no. No way am I dedicated enough to even try that right now. Currently, I'm not even close, only 2-3.

You want epitome, try Ikaruga's Chain System.
