Cave Graveyard: DEAD SH3? Maybe someone can help.

Post by TonK »

I received two PCB's from a member to test. Mushihimisama and ESPGaluda II. I honestly thought it was just a small voltage issue since my Ibara wouldn't boot up when I had a different PSU in my New Astro City.

The games power on. The D6 LED lights up as seen below. Mushihimesama has a very dim LED.

So I tested the voltge, and even upped it to 5.15 as suggested by another member.

Then dropped it back to 4.99 - and took reding off the PCB:

Checked the DIP switches against my Deathsmiles and Futari PCB's.

But when I got the Mushihimesama up to 5.15, it displayed some "red static".

Any tips will help.

What a mess!

No direct experience with this board, but I am a little suspicious of that dim LED. Is R33 the same value on both boards?

Why?

I will test it later.

The brightness of an LED is determined in large part by the current flowing through it, which in turn is determined by the resistance in series with it. If R33 has more resistance on the Mushihimesama board, then the dim LED probably means nothing. If it's the same, it might warrant further investigation.
I will test it later.
The resistors ought to be labeled. It looks like they are in the pic, but it's too blurry to make out.
