Super Bat Puncher

Post by Blackbird »

Just spotted an interesting indie game! It's an oldschool platformer for the NES console. The game looks pretty fun - physics shenanigans. Blitz Lunar is composing the soundtrack, so it sounds awesome as well.

Check it out if the idea appeals to you, it looks like the demo is out =D.

Ive watched a gameplay video of it. Its very much like Cave story only there isnt enough varity of baddies, Its mostly just bats and a few pig like creatures, plus the stages are too sparsly populated imo.
If the the later stages improve in these aspects then, I bet its gonna be one fine little platformer.

You should probably mention that to the developer, then. I'm sure he/she would appreciate the feedback... development is still ongoing, and they seem to take fan criticism seriously.

Is it wrong that I read the title as "Super Pat Butcher"?
The universe is neither hostile nor friendly, simply indifferent.

Even without my umbillical cable attached I still have over 12,000 plates of fortified armour AND I have my AT Field! There's NO WAY I can lose!!

Looks pretty nice. The stages are a bit barren, like TrevHead said, but the game is still in the making, after all. I like the punching glove mechanic, it's similar to what was in Rockin' Kats but outside a few of the very last stages that game didn't make full use of it. Hopefully this one will.

Would buy on a real NES cartridge.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Lookin' googd. I especially like the music that plays once the action starts in that demo video. Love that kind of atmospherical low-bit sounds.
Tbh, I don't care too much about if the stages look a bit undetailed.

Tons of fun. I beat it and did the challenge level for the developer's rocket pack, quite a bit of content for just a demo. Promising game.

Dig the music from this for some reason. Low key music from Nes chips rule.

In my opinion, Blitz Lunar/Goniochromism (the composer) is an extremely talented individual. I think the soundtrack will turn out great. He's pretty well known in the chiptune community.

Anyone know how the game is progressing? The guy's website is not very informative, to say the least.

I'll see if I can dig up some more info.

In the meantime, here's some 2-Player gameplay footage, if you haven't seen it already: 2 Player

Is it just me or is the giant boxing glove idea taken right from Rockin' Kats, another NES game?
