Stereo Out to headphone jack (3.5mm)- Loss of quality?

Post by evil_ash_xero »

I have a component switch, with room for one more item on the front. However, the audio isn't for the red and white jacks. I'd have to use one of those combiner things, where it goes in like headphones. Would this reduce the quality? I'm thinking it would, but I don't know for sure.

So using an item like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Stereo-Ja ... roduct_top

wouldn't reduce the quality any more?

Logically speaking.... why would it! It's only a connector changer.

It will be fine. 8)

As long as your phono to minijack converter is of reasonable quality you shouldn't notice any audio degradation at all.
Any loss of quality due to the extra connection and minijack output will be indetectible to the human ear- you only need to start worrying about stuff like that if you're recording and then editing the waveforms, but you probably want this for gaming rather than mastering the soundtrack eh? :D

Cool. I'm using it with the Genesis also. And we all now how great it sounds.
